CNN just ran a story about the president’s “impromptu” visit to Baghdad and the reporters and photographers surprise at being informed of it and their response. There was a lot of “Wow” and “gosh” quotes.
The Rove created event is well on it’s way to becoming a event void of any in-depth consideration.

ever since they compared Bush's stunt to Lincoln visiting Richmond after the war. No comparison. The very thought of comparing Shrub to Lincoln makes me ill.

2. The real brilliance of this stunt |
|
was the timing-over a slow Thanksgiving weekend so that it would be in a 3-4 day news cycle instead of 1-2. Rove is truly amazing-in an evil way.

3. If they kiss enough Bush ass, |

CNN is hoping they'll get the next propaganda exclusive. Just like their ho friends at FOX got the exclusive on the 6:00am, 2hr Thanksgiving dinner visit in Baghdad.

4. Trip will become a liability soon enough |
|
as Bush continues to turn blood into oil, and the dead/wounded count rises - the little 2 hr dinner trip won't carry much weight other than to remind people of the mess, and as the occupation slogs on people will wonder if Bush plans on making these dinner trips every year
interesting to note - did anyone else notice that there were no BANNERS or BACKDROPS?

You may have a point about the logevity of this "stunt".
I mean how rude of the troops to allow themselves to be attacked right after he leaves.

5. This The End Of This Story's Non Shelf-Life |
|
As others above have noted, this PR stunt is being seen by many for being just that...very disengenuous and contrived.
Listen to the * supporters...very strident, a definite tip-off they also are uncomfortable with how this thing came off thus have to lie and scream the detractors down. There's a phony wave of flag waving that is already dying down and will probably fade out after the Sunday yak fests.
Tomorrow you'll hear non-stop Jacko, John Muhammed, Scott Peterson, Kobe Bryant et al, as this is the cable media's flavor of the moment. The good is we won't have to deal with all this "how wonderful our pResident is" crap, but we sure won't hear how evil this regime is and the real story of what's happening to our troops in Iraq.
Yep, the airheads that are on the morning shows are gonna do the ooh-ahh thing...this is supposedly "light stuff"...eye candy...the stuff Rove is a master at. But I give more and more people credit for starting to see through this rouse. They're seeing it as being highly political, and the more this regime's shill's say it's not, the more there's a growing tide of resentment toward the lies this regime is spewing.
I hope they keep it up...the clock is ticking, I'm really starting to sense a serious change starting to take root in this country.
