4. With No Real Presidential Primary I'll Stay Local...
Short of Lieberman, there isn't a major Democratic nominee (Kerry, Clark, Dean and Gephardt) that I won't support 1000% in throwing out this usurper in both leg work and check writing.

Right now I want to work locally; builing up the party infrastructure for the races Democrats really need to win: House seats. And in many districts it's pitiful what's going on with the Democrats trying to establish a party aparatus to counter entrenched, crony Repugnicans.

There needs to be a reform of the primary system as my state, Illinois, never has mattered in a Presidential primary in 20 years. I'd favor a national primary where everyone votes on the same day (part of drastically shortening the electoral process...California showed you can pull off a major election in 90 day) replacing the useless convention and consentrating needed dollars and resources to defeating Repugnicans.

31. Good luck
I'm still going to do work for Clark, but regardless of who wins I'm going to be organizing people to help out the democratic campaigns in the house in SD county. DTH (and any other SoCal DUers for that matter), if you are reading this, maybe we can coordinate on a SD-LA effort to throw the pukes out of the people's house!

26. Blitzer,Man!
It's Wolf Blitzer. Wesley Clark was the supreme commander of the interview. I was very impressed. Have you read Thomas Friedman's OP-ED in NYTimes today? Wesley Clark has said that many times. By the way, some of us don't dislike Howard Dean at all. We just don't think he's the better choice for President.

President Wesley K. Clark!

You better take my words right, you stupid Fox!

8. I like Dean better but...
Clark is more electable... because my goal is to get rid of Bush, I'm willing to take Clark over Dean. But some things about Clark bother me...

Clark supports a Constitutional amendment banning the burning of the American flag.

Clark's involvement in Kosovo (the immoral and unjust war the left doesn't talk about... but I don't want to get into this here...)

Clark's corporate connections and political connections to Clintonians.

I like Dean because he's more of an outsider... a renegade Democrat... and because he seems to be the only genuinely angry guy. Normally, I wouldn't think anger is a good thing, but Bush is absolutely evil and is taking America to hell. No one in their right mind can not be angry at Bush.

I'm going to vote for Clark because I want the candidate that has the best chance of winning. But my heart lies with Dean. That was the story with me in 2000. I voted for Gore, but my heart was with Nader.

ANYONE BUT BUSH! :D

10. But Dean signed an anti consecration
Flag burning law in Vermont. So that point doesn't really make Dean better than Clark in that area. Kucinich and Gephardt voted affirmative on the Flag amemdment in the house, both.

The others who are in the Senate have not had to vote for that amemdment, so it's easy for them to say they wouldn't.

Clark doesn't have to vote or has not signed a law...but he is being honest about it, as usual.

Then he takes all of the heat for the entire issue.

12. flag burning
I was never for making flag burning illegal. However in my 57 years I've never burnt a flag. I just don't find this a significant issue when someone as evil and stupid as the Shrub is sitting in the whitehouse. Clark hasn't said it's the centerpiece of his agenda or even that he would initiate such a ban. The chance of so many state legislatures voting for the ban is nill.

Edited on Sun Nov-30-03 04:25 PM by ozone_man
Also, I think he was a bit of a cheer leader for the Iraq war, and anyone who voted for IWR didn't make my short list (Dean and Kucinich). The biggest reason is I just don't want a general for a president.

But, I tend to vote my heart. I voted for Nader in 2000 and will vote for Dean in 2004. Kucinich is sort of the Nader of 2004 in my opinion. If he had a chance (maybe he does) I would consider him.

I disagree with the assessment that Dean is unelectable, I think all of the top five candidates can beat Bush. Even a generic dem beats Bush. This is the opportunity to get the right candidate in, and mine is Dean. Not the time for a generic candidate, but the real deal. Dean has the fire in his belly to take Bush down and restore the democratic party and democracy (hopefully).

Not bad for a late commer.

The flag issue is only going to be big by those that support it, gee and who would that be? He's reaching the other side with an issue that he has no vote on, making them think he's in favor is a plus w/out his vote either way.

22. I really doubt that in this case
Kerry not only needs to worry about beating Dean, he also has to worry about losing his supporters to Clark or anyone else before the NH primary. His supporters can't afford to play into perceptions that Kerry is a sinking ship, it only accelerates a scramble for his supporters to find an alternate ship to climb onto. A perception that Kerry is still losing steam right now is more dangerous to his campaign than a perception that Dean is still doing well. I don't think your theory is likely.

With so much a stake how can allow this lightweight from a state of 610,000 people to be our standard bearer against Bush when we have so much better candidates. The conFlag flap was a pathetic indication of Deans lack of stature.

people of the US, they may have better Internet organization though.
That's my view point. I would vote for Lieberman before Clark because of the neo-conservative dominated Pentagon that he came from and the fact he's been Republican-not good for the Democratic Party in the long run IMO watch out for the moles, people.

55. None of this reflects the people of the U.S.
This is a inherently flawed poll of a very mall subgroup that already cares a great deal about the Primaries before a single vote has been cast. But you can't blame the result on "Clark's organization", to state the obvious, at the most eager Clark supporters can vote for Clark. That does not explain why Kerry and Edwards and Gephardt etc are getting so few votes. Clark does have a lot of supporters here and those others don't. It is a simple fact.

69. Edwards leading Kerry
Typically, these polls go:

1.Clark/Dean
3. Kucinich
4. Kerry
5. Edwards

Could this be an upswing for Edwards?

71. This DU Poll is what General is been waiting for.
Is there some way to get this on CNN?
Is General going on a show today he could
mention it on? This is the grassroots we
been waiting for. I expect the polls
in New Hamphsire to start showing the same
shift away from the one with his sleeves rolled
that blink too much to the one that don't
blink at all and the golden stars. Now the
question is how do we get this on CNN so that
the snowball effects starts happening?!? Should
we use the blog stuff things? Let's go, let's
go, let's go! Don't let this drible away like
a leaky bucket of golden stardust!

76. Better, let's get BOTH DU polls, which BOTH had Clark leading on CNN
The latest one gives him a tremendous lead. Unfortunately CNN is probably so terrified of Clark they'd never touch this information.

CLARK '04!!!!! :kick:

75. The results of this poll tell me
we have a lot of very smart people on DU! If this far left of center website understands that Clark is our best choice, then what will the rest of US do?? GET THE SELECTED IDIOT OUT, that's what! :toast:
