Thanksgiving trip a success because of lowered expectations. |

AWOL is a man who was petrified to sleep in Buckingham Palace, as if the Brits have no experience with terrorism. AWOL is a man that can barely stand to sleep in the WH. He can’t eat native food or even military food and has to bring his own. He is a bag of neurosis that would make Michael Jackson look well-adjusted. He can’t stand any kind of dissent, even free speech.
So that he snuck into Iraq in the dead of night, without lights for two hours makes him look brave by the new standards of bravery. They carry on because no one expects him to do ANYTHING that resembles courage, so even this laughable risk is so far from expectations that it is lauded.

during and after his English trip -- because of lowered expectations. He didn't wear cowboy boots, he read a speech without making a mess of it, and he got through a brief press opportunity without screwing up. It's infuriating how little is expected of him. I doubt he could get hired for any job that requires a minimum of knowledge, responsibility, and ability to present oneself to the public, yet he's constantly presented to us as an acceptable occupant of the White House.
