My zip-code was the #2 largest Bush contributor...HELP!

so...i was looking around opensecrets.org the other day (great site) and i was terrified to find out that my zip code 10021, was the second largest contributor to the bush campaign in 2000. Bush made a whoppin $657,120 in my area. 10021 is the upper east side of manhattan. it runs from the bottom of central park...around 59th st. from the park to the river...all the way up to around 80th st. so that includes some ritzy people over on park and madison and 5th.

ok...so...what do i do.

i feel obligated to do SOMETHING to stop this...inform the neighborhood of what their neighbors are doing.

is there anyway to find out who did it? i dont want to start a witch hunt, but if a certian company did it, im sure i could start a local boycott. WHAT SHOULD I DO....any ideas?....please help.

1. check your zips donations to Gore in 2000

It might be a function of the wealth of your zip code. What counts is the net donation.

i checked the geographics for Gore and it turns out my zip code is #1 for Gore but he still recieved less then Bush.

Gore recieved $558,325 from my zip, while bush...as i said above got about 100K more then that.

8. Yeah, but look at Metro NYC as a whole.

2nd highest metro area (behind DC, which is odd - I'd have thought NYC would be higher). 3 of the top 10 zip codes as well.

I agree that you should pursue educating your fellow residents. I wish you luck in changing these numbers for '04.
