Anybody besides me questioning whether the insurgents are really Saddam loyalists? They've been saying that's who they are for a while now, and it seems to me it started about the time it became obvious there were no WMDs. Suddenly there were Saddam loyalists and Al Qae-da members and foreign fighters all over the place, supporting the whole before-they-come-here argument. Lately, though, it's mostly Saddam loyalists. Today they were wearing black uniforms. Well, I'd like to see these black uniforms. Seems to me it would be kinda self-defeating to wear them outside. These must be stupid Saddam loyalists.

Coming in from a bright street into a dark room, you will be blind anyway.

2. The US is lying, again. |

There is an increasing flow of information coming from Iraq that suggests the Resistance (and yes I will use that term, LATimes, regardless of what your pathetic Bush-ass kissing internal memo says) is not based on, or entirely made up of, Saddam loyalists. I believe it was Newsweek (or CNN?) that had a piece a week ago called "Saddam Who?" that went into detail about the non-Saddam, more populist oriented nature of this resistance. It should not come as a shock to anyone here that the US would happily paint it up as nothing but a Saddam remnant fringe thing, so that it does not look like a popular movement.
I wonder if the Nazis called the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising an insignificant skirmish involving a few remaining elements of Warsaw's former leadership?

4. No one is talking about the fact that they seemed to know we were coming |

That many men on a roof in two separate ambushes indicates that their intelligence is pretty damn good. It they hadn't been on top of buildings they would have gotten away and conceivably done more harm to our troops. I think the bigger story here is that this was planned and coordinated. We just happend to have the tanks and fire power to blow the building up. Probably killed more civilian than actual insurgents.

6. In fact there is no proof of Al Queda in Iraq |
|
according to the head of the military in Iraq, as of yesterday, on CNN.
If you believe there is Al Queda in Iraq, the admin's misinformation campaign is working.

7. I didn't say I believe that |

I'm not convinced Al Qaeda exists in a way that would make people identifiable as members of it. As far as I'm concerned it's just a name they gave the boogey man to make him seem more real.
