Has Sharpton said anything about PNAC? |
|
Or is he too busy staying in 5 star hotels doing the big BLING BLING.
Oops, an anti-Sharpton thread!!
Hehe, I really like Sharpton btw. Wouldn't vote for the guy, but he's great in the debates.

4. I'm not sure where you could put him |
|
Ambassador to somewhere? Seriously, I wonder if Sharpton would like that.
I just can't think what you could realistically appoint him to do. Domestically, you would have to maybe create an office of urban affairs..... just an idea.

WTF would that be? You couldn't think of WHAT to appoint him to? 20+ years of community organizing and civil rights activism and you couldn't think of what to appoint him to? Let's see... a bimbo like Bo Derek (screwing some 50 y/o guy at 15 and a single memorable film role) is appointed by * to a major philanthropic organization with no problem. But a member of the Democrats can't think of a thing that someone like Al Sharpton could do... EXCEPT "urban affairs". Great thinking!!
...oh' that Al, he's such entertainment. He can knock the wind out of any of the other candidates in a debate, and stun Tweety into sputtering nonsense, with his quick thinking... but it's all jokes...
Criminy!!!
Folks, some of you are so in-the-closet with your prejudice you've managed to convince only yourselves that you're not... but every time a subject like this comes up you out yourselves in a big way!!

13. 20+ years of community organizing???? |
|
You mean, 20+ years of race baiting, grandstanding, and exploitation of issues for his own self-aggrandizement. Most of those 20+ years the only "organizing" Sharpton has done has been on behalf of Sharpton.
And don't give me any crap about not liking Sharpton because I'm prejudiced. I say I am less prejudiced than people who demand Sharpton be respected or given a pass because he is black. Martin Luther King said that people should be judged on the content of their character, not their skin color, and I take him at his word.
Sharpton has performed well in the debates. But given his history, he is not to be trusted, and he is not to be rewarded with a position of responsibility or authority.

23. OH get out of here with those neo-con phrases... |
|
Race baiting... once again for those people waaayyyy in the back... is nothing more then mentioning race when white people don't want to hear it.
No one asked YOU to give him anything. Only you know why you don't like him. I can have my suspicions based on your use of neo-con jargon, but only you know. Your pre-emptive protests say things you probably don't even admit to yourself though. Don't piss on people and tell 'em it's raining... especially when those people long ago learned to don raingear in anticipation of the inevitable stream of PISS (that comes in the form of disingenuous posts like yours)!!
Self-aggrandizement? GTF outta' here. What does he get? Ridicule, scorn, disrespect... Yeah, okay, and what color is the sky in YOUR world?
MLK also said he believed in Affirmative Action. So does Al. MLK also said white moderates are a BIGGER obstacle to parity for people of African descent than the KKK. So does Al. Should we continue?
Sharpton was doing what BEAUCOUP Black folks wanted and needed him to do, long before you even knew his name. You don't have to like him or respect him. But you can rest assured that throwaway / David Duke / CCC / Bell Curve / Ayn Rand / lines like "race baiting" are a sure clue as to why you don't.
NYers underestimated his influence, and look what that got 'em?! ...at your peril ...

20. Don't you just love it! |
|
When in doubt, evoke the name and memory of Dr. King. See, he was a good Black person; whereas we all know what type of person Sharpton is. Nothing more than a variation on the good cop/bad cop theme, in black face no less. Lol!
By the way, during Dr. King's time on earth didn't a large segment of the god-fearing American population routinely and bitterly label him a race baiter, grandstander, communist sympathizer, and a person whose only goal was to enlarge his status and influence? Yeah, just as I thought.
As for not being trustworthy, Sharpton has a lot of supporters who would argue this point with you. But, then again, perhaps they'll reconsider their support for him after the resident bwanas and bwanetts lay out the facts for them in plain and simple terms. Just like in the good old days.

9. My wife and I were thinking that Al should be.... |
|
Commissioner (Director?) of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, with Dennis Kucinich heading up the President's Peace Commission (I think an Executive Order can create this), with Carol Moseley Braun at the helm of Health & Human Services, and Gephardt at Labor.
Clark will be a fine Director of Homeland Security, and Dean can shop between Surgeon General and another cabinet office of his choice (excepting Defense or Justice).
Edwards and Lieberman will continue to lead in the Senate--where they are national treasures--
Kerry? Well, by Golly, he'll be your next PRESIDENT!
And his biggest appointment will be to the Supreme Court, where the first open vacancy will to go to........................
William Jefferson Clinton. Yeah baby--Try it on, see how it fits, and come back and agree that it wouldn't be bad.

If so, why would you not believe a black girl who says she was raped? How was Sharpton wrong for believing her?

- You can always depend on Sharpton threads to bring out the closet racists.
- "Some of my best friends are Black...but I wouldn't VOTE for them."
- Once again...Blacks are judged by different standards than Whites.

I really like the discussions on DU and it saddens me when I hear sarcastic stereotypes and bigoted remarks thrown around on the boards. Couldn't the point be made without using words like "bling bling" or "I really like him... but I'll never vote for him?"
What are people like me supposed to think when reading such comments?

I just really dislike Al Sharpton. I would vote (and have voted) for any number of black people. And I don't care about "electability." Hell, I voted for Jerry Brown in the '92 primaries; I clearly don't even mind voting for insane people.
But I wouldn't elect Sharpton hall monitor.

First they drag out stereotypes, like "bling bling" and "urban affairs". Then they insult people's intelligence by crying innocent. Yeah... and it's usually the same ones too... the VERY same ones Q!!
You people don't have a clue as to who is on DU... nor how your unvarnished ignorance is affecting a lot of people! This is a critical time in this country, and people are looking for commonalities that will bridge the gap between themselves and others. However, when they (myself included) read this crapola (always defended as honest criticism), it becomes apparent that there will always be a them and an us, even during times of crisis.
No amount of "enlightening", sensitizing, or dialogue will change those who look in the mirror and see a swan, when other swans look at them & see a vulture. When the elections roll around and you find that even more people than the 2000 election don't give a fuck, remember this: some groups are accustomed to being at the bottom of the socieo-economic totem pole and the act of yet again voting for a party whose members have consistently demonstrated apathy and disdain is NOT an option worth the effort.
