Shame on Newsom: His campaign's tactic backfired on him
Edited on Tue Dec-02-03 05:22 PM by La_Serpiente
Someone at Newsom's campaign signed up for a free e-mail account and sent out an e-mail telling others to show up at a anti-Gore protest and to "wear" Green. Too bad Computer Experts found out where the e-mail originally came from.

Experts: Protest e-mail traces to Newsom office

The electronic missives calling for a Green Party protest against former Vice President Al Gore’s appearance today were almost certainly sent from a computer at the Gavin Newsom For Mayor headquarters, according to analysis by several independent information technology experts.

After initial reports of the flap, IT professionals told The Examiner they could not find any way of faking the “originating IP address” of the “Mary Green” protest e-mails. When someone uses a free Internet account, that server automatically pulls identifying information from the originating computer.

Tracing the identifying information from the original protest e-mail, network administrator Marc Dantona said, “Newsom’s campaign might have some explaining to do” since it leads straight to GavinNewsom.com.

The Examiner on Friday received an e-mail from the professed organizer of the event confirming the anti-Gore rally. That e-mail, similar to versions provided by the California Green Party — which has denounced the event — traces back to the Gavin Newsom headquarters.

4. What you have to know about San Francisco
Edited on Tue Dec-02-03 05:25 PM by Demobrat
is that nobody here is a Republican, even the Republicans.

On edit: To be clear, nobody here ADMITS to being a Republican.

3. Newsom is scum.
I hope to God he goes down in flames for this, and for playing the race card. And as for Gore, I voted for him but my opinion of him just tanked. If he feels the need to look out for the Democratic party to the detriment of San Francisco, I'm glad he's not running.

5. Gore should withhold any support/endorsement of Newsom
if that's what he's there to do.
