as saying that not only have I never bashed Clark, I regularly compliment him and his campaign. Not that I ever get any thank-you's for it...the Kerry supporters thank me for being nice, but not one Clark supporter that I'm aware of has. :(
on edit: the Kucinich supporters also say thank-you...if fact, they're the nicest. I don't know about the Lieberman supporters though because I'm not sure I've ever complimented the guy and if I did, I'm not sure he has any supporters on DU.

29. I've been thanked by a Clark supporter or 2 |
|
There are supporters of every candidate who act irrationally, maybe moreso in the Dean and Clark camps because there are simply more of us here than supporters of other candidates.
However, there are many more supporters (of all candidates) who are thoughtful, intelligent and polite. The annoying ones are simply noisier -- and just as the Deanies seemed to flood this board in the summer months, we seem to have had a recent influx of Clark supporters, some infinitely more mature than others.
I keep coming back, because there's a lot of good material to read here, but it has gotten so that there is very little real discussion of issues. Instead, we have a lot of over-reacting and retaliatory postings.
I personally can't wait until after July when we are all on the same page. As much as I love Dean and believe he's the one, I will be thrilled to be all working together again. (I just hoping this place isn't unbearable with the gloating by childish supporters of whichever candidate gets the nomination.)

Wes Clark is running to protect our right to dissent and speak freely. I believe in that right, and thus the right of DUers to speak their mind - even if I don't agree.

On the complimenting other candidates thing, I regularly chime in for Dean because he's my second choice. I almost always am thanked by one or the other of the Deaners and it does make you feel like part of a greater team-the LETS GET THAT SORRY BASTARD OUT OF OUR HOUSE NEXT YEAR team.
Threads like this give me some hope it just might happen.

55. At the very least we could stop generalizing Dean/Clark supporters |
|
Yes, there are some Clark/Dean supporters who throw everything but the kitchen sink at Dean/Clark, but there are plenty of supporters for both candidates who've done a valiant job in refraining from such nasty attacks. If only we could do away with all of the "The Deanies...blah blah blah" and "The Clarkies...blah blah blah" statements.
I completely understand the anger at particular groups who seem devoted more to bashing a particular candidate (believe me, restraining myself in the face of the "Matt Taibbi clones" is no easy task for myself), but it's unfair and just plain incorrect to assume or use language that implies an assumption that all Clarkies/Deanies have the same attitudes toward the other candidate.

56. There is a cancer in the Democratic Underground |
|
Truth to tell I post here infrequently and mostly lurk. As a whole I frequently find this a very unpleasant place. The reason is due to a minority of very loud and mean-spirited posters. As a whole the majority of Dean and Clark supporters I have observed here have fairly favorable opinions of the other guy. It is the loud minority that seems to poison and infect the animosity between the two camps. There are two kinds. One kind are the Dean supporters and Greenies who have a visceral hatred of Clark and will take every possible opportunity in almost every thread to vent their hatred for him. For obvious reasons I am most sensitive to this group of posters. The second group are Clark supporters who have a visceral hatred of Dean and do likewise. I am less sensitive to this group but am aware there are some. They both give their "sides" bad names to supporters of the other side. The animosity is so pronounced that some days I find this place just to negative to visit. It reminds of the animostiy that exists between Bush lovers and Bush haters. It is very unpleasant to live in such a polarized country right now. I do wish something could be done to improve the "tone" of political dialogue but it seems that ever increasingly people are descending to the level of the Ann Coulters and the Rush Limbaughs of the country. :( Very discouraged.
