The Foundation for a Better Life
A few weeks ago someone posted asking about all the billboards they were seeing that had been put up by this "Foundation for a Better Life." Some, including myself, had seen the billboards around our cities with their vague "inspirational" platitudes and had decided it must be some kind of propaganda campaign. Others, eternally optimistic, said, no, not so fast- maybe this was a legitimate, inspirational campaign.

To me, and others, looking at the campaigning method, the vague phrasing, subtle psychological theming and framing, and massive money-power that must be behind this thing, though, it seemed pretty clear that someone was trying to psychologically manipulate people.

Well, today I became fed up after seeing a third frickin' sign in my city, and I decided to do some investigating. I found some interesting things, to say the least.

To begin with, who owns the domain name "http://forbetterlife.org"? According to this site:
http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2002/02/7597.shtml
it is owned by:

Anschutz Corp (WN-D-93268011)
555 17th St Suite 2400
Denver
CO,80209

The Anschutzs have a whoooole lot of money (billions). You can read about them and the many corporate ventures they have been and are involved in on the before-mentioned page, and, also, these pages:

http://www.theportlandalliance.org/2002/april/billboard.html

http://sandiego.indymedia.org/en/2002/03/710.shtml

http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2002/02/7617.shtml

And this, very detailed: http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2002/03/7978.shtml

The one thing these articles do not detail is these figures' connections to the Bush administration. One article does mention some business dealings with Rupert Murdoch, which I suppose would then be a connection with the Bushees, but, that doesn't tell us much....

Anyway, I think this campaign is a very subtle attempt at psychologically manipulating people into cultural assimilation. Anyone else have thoughts?

2. One more thing
Depressing Season to be a Niner fan, btw. I share in your pain. But Rattay looks solid. Play Garcia and keep him healthy for next year.
