How long did Bush visit with the troops? |
|
I remember someone posted some comments from Free Republic about this. Anyone have any idea? His plane landed at around 6:00 am and it took him a while to get off the plane. My understanding is that he only spent 10 minutes with the troops...just long enough to get the photo op done. Is this right?

He was in Iraq only 2 1/2 hours but had meetings with "officals" there.

2. yep -- 2 1/2 hours is correct |

and he didn't eat with them.
I would think that he spent 10 - 15 minutes tops "dining" with the troops.
Remember the speeches and show boating, too?

...posted on freerepublic from a captain who was at the event says Bush schmoozed with the troops for ninety minutes, in the mess hall. And the tank sgt. who was invited to sit at the head table said that he and eight other GIs were made to pick up their plates and leave because Bush wanted to talk with Bremer and the bigwigs, but after he was finished he spent a few minutes with these nine GIs. (They never did get to finish their dinners.)
