5. As I suspected, a lot of hot air,
these people just like to hear themselves talk.

Basically they agreed that Kerry is good at giving policy speeches, Joe Klein said he is good at nuances, but he is still not connecting to the voters (my interpretation). Gephardt needs to win Iowa.

That's about it. Candy mentioned 2000 election, and how the Dem candidates would rather be in New Hampshire instead of Florida.

Like I said, not much.

7. Klein even said Kerry gave the finest foreign policy speech of the year
but the public will never hear about it or process what he said.

hmmmm...not so different than DU. How many even here who claim to care about good governance heard or read the whole speech?

8. DUers raise the bar for John Kerry. He must walk over hot coals to get
their approval. Not their vote, mind you, just their approval.

9. Amzing How Low The Bar Is For Others
Just act a little pissed off, kiss a little self-help ass, and they are willing to forgive secret meetings with Ariel Sharon, not to mention your entire political career.

PS - I think the Franken thing was different than the Pitt thing.

11. There's a thread "would you vote for Kerry if he apologises for IWR"
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 11:12 PM by oasis
I doubt there will be anyone saying "YES I WILL" because they have dug in their position against Kerry --some, many months ago, even before the IWR vote and the Patriot Act. They know who they are. It was Skull and Bones back then and Teresa's wealth and blah, blah blah. Anything but get behind the war hero who could take on Bush. Some, I believe, were just envious and it showed in their posts. They feel empowered by their stubbnorness. I just throw up my hands because I've seen this kind of mania before.

I admire you and many other Kerry supporters who hammer away daily and try to get the record straight.

12. A feeding frenzy
They do happen. It does seem to me a sort of rebellious empowerment. I like how Kerry described his supporters, cold angry. He must be reading the blog, because it absolutely fits.

17. Cold anger
Maybe he figured it was time to turn that anger into action. I wish I could actually find the real "teacup" speech because all I've ever seen are references to it. Maybe he meant "it's time to quit crying in our teacups, get over it"... and then stand up and get even. It's too bad the other things he said about Florida never got reported.

"Now I know a lot of you have 2000 still on your minds. Let me just make it clear, let me make it clear: It is not my attention to rehash the 2000 presidential race but, suffice it to say, that if Katherine Harris ever leaves politics, she will make one hell of a fine Arthur Andersen auditor. I'll tell you. You don't feel strongly about this do you?

My friends, there are lots of reasons to be angry about what happened here in the year 2000 in Florida, but none more than the way that it did a terrible injustice to the purpose and the meaning of what those young Americans gave to their country, what young Americans give to their country today in uniform, and it makes clear the battle for civil rights in our country is not yet over.

And that, that is why it is long since time that we made it clear - clear to your Secretary of State - clear to your Governor - clear to the Administration in Washington -- that we are not going to be able to honor the sacrifice of anyone who wore that uniform, who stood up to be counted and fought for our country -- we will not honor that until we make certain that we count every vote in every county, in every part of our country, in every election, bar none."

18. For the record, I've said that if Kerry
had voted against the IWR, I'd probably be supporting him as my candidate. I do believe that would be true.
