Rove vs Clark
Florida, issues and debate this weekend
At his vacation home in northwest Florida this past August, Karl Rove, with one eye on the build-up to General Wes Clark's "probable" candidacy, chatted along with friends and was caught by a few in the local press there, saying, that "the election will be decided here." Most of us are still unsure as to whether or not that by using the term "here", Karl Rove meant in northwest Florida, the site of  the residences of vast numbers of military families, or not. But that he meant "in Florida" is a certainty.

1. Florida?
Florida was battleground 2000, but I don't think we know whether it will have the same stature next year.

4. I was just posting what Rove thinks
Whether he is right or wrong, I find it relevant for us to know.
GOP is pouring efforts in Florida:

Election Bitterness Lingers for Fla. Dems

Knowing the 2000 election energizes Democrats, Republicans are holding training sessions for party activists throughout Florida and emphasizing the need for a high turnout next year. They also are reminding campaign organizers that nearly all 97,421 votes cast for Ralph Nader, the Green Party candidate, would have gone to Gore had Nader not run."

I find it relevant too that Rove gears up for Clark.

6. Wes Clark will win Florida in the General Election
He will cobble together a very potent alliance of Florida voters that will win the election decisively, and beyond the margin of error of scumbag tactics.

He will win:

* The traditional Democrats. Clinton will probably campaign for him with minority voters.

* The retirees. He does very well with them.

* The large Jewish vote.

He will do well with the military vote. He might well win it outright.

He will do well with the younger Cuban voters who want to open up trade with Cuba.

He will siphon off Republican voters.

Clark, by far, is our strongest Democratic candidate. He's the guy who stands the best chance of winning. Howard Dean is a good, good man. His primary strategy has been absolutely brilliant. His supporters are to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication. But he's not our strongest candidate for the general election.
