Watching the Democratic Convention today, |
|
I couldn't help notice the number of people that were 50+ years in age holding Clark banners, and the number of people 30 and below years holding Dean banners. Is it just me or does this tell everyone about things to come in South Carolina and Florida. Dean has youthful activists flowing in groves and Clark has started to inspire the older generation within the party to get out and be active as well. It should be interesting in Febuary and March 2004. O.K. I did see a few younger people holding Clark banners as well, the camera zoomed in on two of them. Also the Dem. Party Chairman stated that outside before the candidate appearences Clark supporters were yelling "WES WILL WIN" and Dean supporters were yelling "GO DEAN GO". Of course they were initially yelling at each other, and then they broke out with "BUSH MUST GO" in unison. For what it's worth, I personally think that both men inspire different age sectors within the Democratic party. I was also a little disturbed when Dean took another swipe at Clark stating in effect that Clark had initially supported the war. Of course the Clark statement earlier in the week that Dean was skiing while he was recovering from Vietnam wounds, upset me as well. I hate Dean's Middle Class Tax stance, and I think that Clark's stance on employment outsourcing stinks as well. I wish they would stop taking swipes at each other, because it would be a shame that two men that inspire such a broad range of ideologies across the party couldn't lead us all to victory together against Bush in 2004. Kennedy and LBJ found common ground to defeat Richard Nixon, it maybe that this is what we need again in 2004.

For older people. It's a lot more mixed age overall. Look at the Clark webcam and photo galleries. You'll get a better idea.

When the two groups united with "No more Bush" it was, for me, the most powerful moment of the convention. It showed great Democratic solidarity. And since both groups were fairly loud and fairly vocal, when they were united in purpose, the ground, it was a-shakin'. Carol

3. Rather snarky comment by Maddox at the end of the Dean/Kucinich |
|
forum, IMO.
He said they were the only two candidates who "kept their promise" and came to the forum.
Who are the other candidates? Maddox should also consider the fact that the whole shebang ran very late and people have planes to catch and other appearances.
Maddox was stupid to do that---
