1 - Gore endorsed Davis and many Dems voted against him
2 - Gore endorsed Newsom and many Dems look like they will vote against him

An endorsement from Al Gore doesn't mean sh*t to alot of Democrats.

I like the man. But, I think for myself, and so do most Dems.

24. I think for my self as well, and I like what Gore has to say.
He is a man that you can trust. He has proven it time and time again. never have I seen such courage and honor as when he faced the gauntlet of flashing bulbs to give his concession speech. I still well up with tears when I think of it, It was equivalent to a crucifixion.

4. Some of you Clark people need to....
put a lid on it. What the hell is the matter with you? Dean's a good dem and a damn fine candidate. You'd think he was a Joe Lieberman or a Zell Miller with the respect he gets from some here. He is not the anti-christ or the anti-dem, so give it a rest.

I'm going on record as saying I LIKE CLARK, but some of his supporters are starting to make it difficult. Thank god, I'm mature enough to know it's not the General that turns me off, just some of his misguided supporters.

5. I did not criticize Dean...
I just feel that all this "It's over", "We Won" talk is far too premature.

The only thing the Gore endorsement does is draw media attention for a day or two.

That is about it.

11. Clinton was in SF with Newsroom today ........ PLUS ...........
You make a fair point regarding the previous Gore endorsements that Clinton also made. I would argue that those were local elections and local voters are more in tuned and familiar with the local candidates so an outside person i.e. Gore/Clinton coming in doesn’t hold much weight. But on a National level such Blockbuster endorsements do matter especially since Joe and Jane public have not checked in yet. Did you hear the man who got the most votes in the last presidential election endorsed DEAN? People will notice this.

I have trouble believing that if Gore endorsed Clark you would have the same view.

12. I would like a Gore endorsement....
Edited on Tue Dec-09-03 12:26 AM by dobak
1 - It would give us some media attention for once....

2 - It would give us a boost in momentum.

3 - It would have prevented alot of Clark leaners from thinking the ship has sunk when it fact I think it is as strong as it was yesterday.

Gore is a great man, and I think that it will give Dean a small boost. I just don't think it will have any major impact on the race like some people think it has.

28. nomaco-10, we're all going thru that.
I'm for Clark. But I love Kucinich yet some of his supporters
make it difficult. I respect Dean and his civil supporters,
but many of them make it difficult. Kerry has some zealots.
Etc.

I'm glad you're able to put aside your annoyance at the
difficult Clark supporters and not hold it against the General
himself.

7. Time to choose.
It's hard to have a Gore who was both

a.) a political naif so spineless and naive as, say, to lose an unloseable campaing in 2000 to a lawn ornament, or endorse Gray Davis,

and

b.) an evil genius so ruthless and Machiavellian as to be gaming the 2008 election already.

You can pooh-pooh the endorsement, but you have to choose on the basis of which Gore to do it on.

22. No, just as Gary Hart's endorsement of Kerry was a coup for Kerry
Gore's endorsement of Dean is a coup for Dean. Nothing more. Gore only has one vote. If someone actually changes who they support based on this, then you have to wonder what level of conviction they have.

At the end of the day, what this does for Dean is help him extend his name in the pool of voters who don't know who he is.

To beat up on Gore for doing this is disgusting.
