1. Nada
Nothing yet. With the rain here today though, it will all come down to dedication (and the lines are being reported as huge on the local news). The weather has been awful here all day.

Polls don't close for another 3 1/2 hours.

Just based on my precinct it looks like a pretty heavy turnout.

"ominous sign" in terms of Matt's folks not turning up at the polls in droves like he'd hoped.

4. all quiet
I almost forgot to vote but passed my polling place on the way home from work. I voted Green for the first time, and I've always been a loyal democrat. I just can't stomach Gavin Newsom.

I have had the news on but no results are out yet. According to last night's news, the results should be available almost as soon as the polls close here at 8 pm.

6. I voted this morning
No lines at my polling place, but there never are any. At about 11:00 a.m. the vote counter was at 80 or so. The weather in my neighborhood SOMA was pretty good, which is good for Newsom. Weather is VERY local in San Francisco and one area can be sunny while it's pouring elsewhere.

It should be interesting, but I predicted a Newsom win a few weeks ago and I'm sticking by that.

12. Question for SFers
Edited on Tue Dec-09-03 08:51 PM by YNGW
Newson supported Prop "N" (Care Not Cash) which passed by a margin of around 70-30. So with the citizens of SF having passed that by a wide margin, what was the big beef with Newsom? All I've heard is that he's the candidate of big business, but so was Willie Brown (isn't he a real estate attorney?) and he was re-elected easily.

Granted I haven't examined either candidate because it doesn't effect me, so I don't need a long handed answer, just a brief explanation.

from "the corporations of war, death, global and local environmental and human rights atrocities, ancient forest destruction, sweat shop labor, water privatization for the rich, corporate globalization". I am eager to see how much other "philantropists" gave Newsom!

It will be interesting as SF politics always are. I don't live in the city but if I had I might have cast my first Green vote ever.
