Ted Koppel at the debates last night... |
|
Does anyone out there aside from me get sick and tired of the press yammering questions like Koppels "Anyone who thinks Howard Dean can beat GWB raise their hands." I hear this sorta of crap day in and out..."Can anyone beat Bush?" The unelected fools polls aren't good at all for reelection and as someone said not to long ago in this forum I doubt anyone that voted for Gore would vote for Bush in 2004. So what gives anyway? I wish ONE of the candidates would have had the balls to tell Koppel the above and slam dunk him. X(

1. I wanted to jump through the tv and smack him! |
|
Arrogant ass! I felt exactly the same. Taking time away from the issues w/ his little hand exercise. Then goes on about Gore's endorsement even after Dean tells him let's talk about the issues. fucken idiot! Why do debates have to be hosted by reporters? Have people from the audience just ask questions. This wasn't a debate. It was an evening w/ arrogant, pompus-ass, time to go to bed ted koppel. So our candidates are forced to sit there and answer whatever ted wants to talk about. NO WAY!

4. Debates Should Not Be Hosted by rich/pretty boy Show Reporters... |
|
These pretty boy show reporters are in it for the ratings. It's all about how 'smart and pretty and rich I am.' I hope Dr Dean demands a debate with scholars, experts, and even world leaders asking the critical questions.
You can tell that the one debate...and that is maybe...that little man bush will agree to, will be a gift to bushie.

2. Did anyone else think that was a trick question? |
|
You know, one without a correct answer?
I mean, suppose they had all raised their hands. Would it then be interpreted by the pundits as a sign that they all know they're campaigns are flawed and doomed?

3. Dr. Dean was the only one who mentioned... |
|
'Al Gore Won 2000 Elections in majority votes.' Dr. Dean should have added, 'Bush selected by the Supreme 5, and a bunch of Bush Sr lawyers.'
I also think that the Koppel program placed Dr. Dean next to Kerry to show how shorter Dr Dean is. A lot of tricks were played during the Koppel devates. It was all about Koppel. I'm glad Kerry to Koppel, 'I can tell you were to stick it,' Dennis K also fought back and Rev Sharpton made it clear to Koppel that he was looking for ratings. Our group fought back. I'm proud.

8. Debates should not have media people running them |
|
The candidates should insist scholars, historians, activists, average people, anyone but the damn media types should ask the questions and moderate the debates. I am so sick of these beltway elite and their little clique thinking they get to set the tone and the agenda for our political process.
This is one reason I no longer have a TV, I really got fed up with Cokie Roberts, Ted Koppel and the rest of the whores with their smarmy sickening smirks thinking they are relevant in any way to the political process. Sometimes I wonder if I'm missing too much by not having a TV but I read something like this post and all the frustration and anger come back. You want to know who's responsible for the lying incompetent we have in the White House? It's people like Ted Koppel who are threatened by intelligence or integrity in a candidate and would rather see a little nothing like Bush leading this country so they can feel superior to him.

10. I was ticked at Koppel as well |
|
And from what I read about his pre-meetings he was trying to be too cute and play the gotcha game. IMHO that was the worse showing by a TV newsperson of all the debates, even beating the CNN & Faux whores. Ted ought to hang his head. He's better than that - I think he does a good job for the most part on Nightline.
I especially wanted to smack him for asking Kerry a couple of times about Dean - glad Kerry didn't bite and I loved Kerry telling him where he wanted him to shove his poll. And I'm a Dean backer, but I like all the Dems up there, though I was shouting at Sharpton to shut up about Gore and "bossism". Thought Dean gave a great retort.
Getting back to Koppel - though I too think it may be time for a couple of the candidates - for the good of the race to beat Bush - should get out. I don't think this was the place or the business of Koppel to bring it up.
I liked the local guy - I thought he asked some good and fair questions.
