Flu vs. NCLB - How Many Schools WIll Fail? |
|
Based on my understanding of NCLB, schools can pass based on their test scores, but still fail based on the 95% average attendance requirement. I discussed this with our principal, and it is her understanding there are no exceptions.
Assuming Pennsylvania state law requiring students to be in school for 180 days, this means 9 days absent per student cannot be exceeded or the school will fail.
Any bets? Small schools are going to be crushed by this rule this year.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I firmly believe parts of No Child Left Behind were designed to show that public schools are failing in order to pave the way for private school vouchers.

2. All the best conspiracies are hidden in plain view. |

I think. NCLB set up rigid, unrealistic standards that few schools would meet, so people can turn around and say "our whole school system is broken, we need vouchers!!"

3. Dems should have foreseen this |

It should have been made a requirement that private schools meet the same standards. I mean, if NCLB is really all about the children, why shouldn't every educational institution be equally judged?
