Last night's debate
I am normally more of a reader of DU than a participant. However, after last night's debate, i just want to rant!!!!

Who the hell does Ted Koppel think he is? He does not get to decide who should stay in this race. Koppel was completely out of line. This is what has been happening with the "Liberal" media for the last 4 years. They early on decided that Gore was to stiff, a liar and too smart, therfore they did not beleive he would be a good president. The worst part is that it is repeated enough, and the sheeple begin to beleive it. It is time for the democrats to stand up to the media, call them on their bias at every opportunity. Last night. Dennis Kucinich became my hero.

1. There is an article floating out there on Koppel's strategy...
Which was to be provocative and instigate "a show"-- purely to have the entertainment value. He does, afterall, work for Disney and nearly had his butt handed back to him, when they tried to recruit Letterman and throw out his show, Nightline.

If you gather that I am a bit sympathetic to Koppel, I am. He's been very good at some tough stories that no one else would touch on Nightline the past several years.

However, I too am pissed that he went so far. Poor job, Koppel, but one the Dems handled well, I think.

I think Peter Jennings would have done a much better job...

2. Lieberman's hurt feelings - after his dump on Gore in 2002 - was bull shit
More than a year ago, Mr. Lieberman took the occasion of a meeting of the Democratic Leadership Council, the centrist party organization of which he is a prominent member, to say essentially that Mr. Gore had blown the 2000 election by sounding too liberal. Mr. Lieberman, in a meeting with reporters, suggested that Mr. Gore, in using the theme, "We're for the people, they're for the powerful," had harmfully reminded voters of the party's liberal, New Deal roots with divisive rhetoric that Republicans call class warfare.

Mr. Lieberman's remarks were taken by some Democrats as rank ingratitude by the Connecticut senator to the man who, with some potential risk, had made him the first Jewish politician on a major party national ticket. But policy rather than pique probably was at the core of Mr. Gore's decision to endorse Dr. Dean.
Gore's blessing

3. I would not expect less from DK.
Koppel thought he had control of the media's smuggness and he could mannage the news......Turned out different. It was a good night for those appalled by our media..
DK started it with his attack about media trivilization and Sharpton ended it with a good natured, reminder that a whore such as Koeppel's - his ratings aren't what they could be either. Touche...Bravo Dennis and Al..
With this media's 'eat em up and spit em out', use of news casters, Koeppel will have his ultimate come-uponce...
