The DLC is driving me crazy. |
|
I'm on their email list (for some reason), and here's a bit of the latest (bold highlight is mine):
"Moreover, Dean is a candidate who really does need some tempering through political competition. There are legitimate questions about his candidacy that need answering: Can he offer a positive vision for governing as well as a blistering critique of Bush? Can he persuade as well as energize? Is the excitement of his core supporters contagious to those swing voters that he has so often dismissed as irrelevant? Can the Dean campaign diversify, transcending its early origins as a sort of therapy group for upscale liberals? Will the candidate learn to take the cultural issues that many voters care passionately about more seriously? Can he become more self-disciplined in his off-the-cuff remarks, which are storing up treasure for Republicans in the fall? If the answers to these questions are negative, then it would be nice to know before Democrats entrust him with the tough challenge of trying to unseat George W. Bush."
I wish they wouldn't throw even more fuel on the divisivness fire.
I can forward the full email if anyone is interested.

1. Can the DLC diversify, |
|
transcending its early origin as a sort of therapy group for aspiring party bosses and corporate shills?

The DLC's continued, and ever louder, shrieking about Dean only convinces me that I'm right to support the man.

2. When the hell have swing voters been dissmissed as irrelevant? |
|
The DLC needs to pull their collective heads out of Bush's ass...typical spank-monkey idiots, way too concerned with the flow from the spigot of corporate cash...

4. Therapy group for upscale liberals??? |
|
Okay. A group of rich people in DC who struggle to reclaim their own sense of political relevence claims I am an upscale liberal using Dean as group therapy??? Projection much?
I research the candidates, I keep myself highly informed, I go to meetups and talk with students, educators, social workers, out of work professionals, and yet this is how the DLC likes to paint me...an upscale liberal using politics for nothing more than therapy. Now that's funny.
Because heaven forbid I actually care about, oh, say...healthcare, jobs, human rights, enviroment, etc. Nope, not me, I'm just in it for the Starbucks latte and group therapy!
Jeez, as a Dean supporter I constantly get insulted by the Republicans AND the Democrats...if I didn't know any better, I would think Dean was running as a third party candidate. :eyes:

The DLC exists for one purpose: to act as kingmaker and act as a sort of liason for graft.
If they get ignored and Dean wins the primary does that mean they are finished as an organization or that they are only finished as an organization if Dean wins the nomination and beats W?

6. Unless they are asking the same kind of questions about all the |
|
candidates, that is wrong. Targeting one candidate like that should not be done, I certainly don't want them to use loaded questions, like the one you highlighted, about my candidate, shouldn't do it to any one.

...wasn't that the more or less the point when they started it, to form a 'vital center' power structure outside the traditional "Northeast" (IE Kennedy) establishment?
Right?

Conservatives control the executive, the legislative, and possibly the judicial. They are trying to move the "center". The DLC wants to be in the center, but if the center keeps moving to the right, we'll all be conservative someday. Not gonna happen. I won't let it!

8. I'm so very torn on the DLC |
|
The fact that they would attack a fellow Dem who is doing their job for them (fighting Repukes) is awful.....
And yet, I actually NEED these people for support after March's primary.
There's gotta be a fourtune cookie around here to give me the wisdom to handle this.

The nerve of those idiots. Well this cements for me why the DLC needs to go the way of the pet rock.

to find out if Dean can be tempered by the almighty power of the DLC wurlitzer. Same DLC time, same DLC channel.
LOL, that paragraph is written in the style of an old-timey radio serial. Read it again in a Don Pardo voice.
Can he persuade...? Is the excitement of his core supporters contagious...? Can the Dean campaign diversify...? Will the candidate learn...? Can he become more self-disciplined...?
Stay tuned for the answer to these, and all of the negative questions we can think up before the next installation of DLC/RNC talking points.
When is someone going to finally take that shovel away from From & Co., his hole is 6 ft. deep and sinking.
