MoveOn's Anti-Bush Ad Running on CNN!!! |
|
Be looking for it, I've seen it twice in the past ten minutes or so. It shows Santa sitting in a chair by a fireplace with fire blazing. He's checking off items on corporations' wish lists that are printed in large letters on a long scroll. You see his beard but not much of his face. The voiceover reads off all the "goodies" corporations have gotten. Santa finishes reading and you see him stretch his legs out in front of the fire. He's wearing tooled leather cowboy boots. The voiceover says something about not all Santas living at the North Pole, some live in Washington, D.C., and the view changes to a photograph of George W. Bush as the voiceover continues.
We in the DemBones household think our $50 was well-spent on this ad!
Please report in this thread when you see it, especially on other networks. I hope it will be widely seen.

It should have been just a bit more specific on how he did all of those things. Oh yeah and I might have not gone with the cowboy boots, debateable though.

quite subversive in a gentle way.

10. remember how much they talked about that horrid "pre-emption" ad |
|
put out by the RNC? they couldn't get enough of that one....especially tweet.
he had Gillespie on and praised its effectiveness, as evidenced by the fact that the dems were screaming about it so much.
anyone remember him hammering the dem ad re: B*'s SOTU (of which they excised the first few, thus rendering it "distorting")?
hope they give it a fraction of the discussion time they gave the pugs' jingoist POS.

12. interesting, but what does Saddam's brutality have to do with |
|
our reasons for going to war? Gee, I'm pretty sure WMD were the reason we were told, NOT the brutality that Saddam was perpetrating since the 1980's, when he was our friend and when Rumsfeld et al gladly visited with him.
I hope the American people can see the bait-n-switch they are trying now. Or is it more of a strawman argument? If you are against Bush, then you must love Saddam's brutality??
They must think we are idiots.

17. I went to their site and sent this email |
|
"You say you want to turn the tables on the radical left with this ad, but this ad makes no sense.
The fact that Saddam Hussein was a murderous, brutal dictator has nothing to do with why we went to war, at least not to the reasons Bush and Colin Powell gave prior to the war. No, it was weapons of mass destruction and the supposed threat of terrorist attacks. Only after we have failed to find weapons have they said the reason to go to war was to liberate the Iraqi people. How many Americans would have supported $87 billion for Iraq if they had been told originally that liberation and nation-building was the goal?
Ironically, it's the radical left that tried to point out the genocide back in the late 1980's when Reagan and Bush Sr were buddying up to Saddam. Our Congress even tried to pass sanctions back then due to the Kurdish genocide, but GHW Bush took advantage of a loophold in the legislation so we could continue selling grain to Saddam, despite his murderous ways.
I'm sorry, but you are using a strawman fallacy in an attempt to discredit the President's detractors. Better luck next time."

what a load of crap - since when didn't we know about Saddam torturing and killing people - I'm pretty sure this was established long ago - when the west was still his best mate
how can they produce something that is obviously complete crap - I mean not even the redneckiest freeper thought Saddam was a well rounded sane individual surely????????
absolutely speechless, are people really that ill informed that they'll beleive this steaming pile??

23. You can be more than just "pretty sure," SeattleDem. |
|
Paul Wolfowitz admitted this at a speech in Singapore earlier this year - that everybody in the mis-administration knew Saddam was a bad guy but believed that saying so would not be enough to motivate Americans to back a war because even while he was a bad guy, human rights violations weren't enough of a big deal for us to want to go to war over. But if we all thought we were under an imminent threat - especially of nukes, he noted, that'd be enough to sell it.
I am sorry, I do not remember the link. But boy-oh-boy do I remember reading that. For all those lovely knuckle-draggers who now say - "but Saddam was a bad guy."
