The media potrayal that the Dem nomination is all wrapped up |
|
For ages, people have been railing against the media for promoting Bush. But now, there are large number of people who are claiming that the media is now trying to promote Howard Dean. Isn't it possible that the goal of the media is not to promote Howard Dean, but to antagonize the rest of the Democratic candidates' supporters. I favor Dean, and I don't think for a moment that the media favors Dean. I believe that they are continueing to be led by Karl Rove, and his current strategy is to inflame the battles between the Democratic candidates, in order to weaken the eventual nominee, and further distract from the problems of this administration.

1. They're not that complex. |

They're promoting dean because Chimp wants to run against him.

5. If the Democratic party is split |
|
it won't really matter who the nominee is.
I agree with your theory - the split is the damaging factor, not Dean himself. Could've been anybody.
So don't kill the (Dean) message, kill the (media) messenger.

6. Some of it is media business as usual. |
|
Since his inauguration the media has been giving W a pass on just about anything he does.
When Clark announced his candidacy, the media was all over him.
Now Dean gets Gore's endorsement and the media is all over him.
The media is all over these stories but is strangely silent about the atrocities going on in Iraq and elsewhere, many of which are reported here. Pity those who get all their news from mainstream media. Bread and circuses for the masses.

Don't believe it go watch Faux news for an hour, if you can stomach it. The strategy is simple "divide and conquer." They are purposely playing up the whole Clinton/Clark vs Dean/Gore stuff. They want to piss as many of us off as possible, in the hopes that if our candidate is not chosen for the nominee, then maybe we will be pissed off enough to not even vote. Any of the candidates could beat Bushit b/c he is the worst president in US history. They know it and they DON'T want us to be happy falling behind whoever is chosen for the nominee if they were not our first choice. Rove is not stupid and his strategy is not complicated! So to all you folks that seem to delight in fanning the flames of hatred here, just remember that you are personally helping America on its way to fascism. Those that think that the media doesn't care who is in office are deluding themselves as well. Under Bushit, the giant media corps can buy whatever the hell they want cuz FCC regulations are already going out the window. With ANY Dem in office they would not be able to do it. It always is about money and Bushit in office guarantees them a whole lot more of it.
I bet money already that if the Dems don't all unite and endorse the nominee, we will get a "where are the other candidates tonight, the night before election 2004" on quite a few of the major networks on Nov. 3rd. DIVIDE AND CONQUER!

7. And that is why they gave Dean a press plane last June. |
|
Because he always attacked the other Dem candidates and the Dem party.
Nice.
Now all the future Dem candidates will employ that tactic to assure the attention of the corporate press.

8. It's not just the media saying this. |
|
Behold two posts from someone right here at DU:
It's over!!! Dean wins! Well, I'll say that Dean looks to win the nomination and I seriously doubt anyone will challenge him. They really should all drop out so Dean can save his money to fight Bush. It's the only honest option for the other 8. ...It seems like people here on DU don't like the fact that they picked a losing horse, but they'll ride that horse till it dies somewhere on the back end of the track.
I certainly hope that this attitude is not common here, because it's very counterproductive. Whoever gets the nomination will need the support of every Democrat, including those who "picked a losing horse."

FUCK YOU DIRTY STUPID MOTHER FUCKERS! I hope that you'll be happy working all day long for nothing, living in a polluted disgusting country, with your children being sent to war as fodder, where you have no rights left, and the cancer you got BECAUSE OF YOUR LEADER is slowly eating away at your insides. You brought it on yourself and you don't deserve pity.

15. That and the Gore versus Clinton propaganda are blazing |
|
today in the media.
Make no mistake, the Chimpy administration is in all out attack.
This will continue.
I get a bit disappointed that more people posting here can't see that for what it is. Some even perpetuate the myths themselves, not realizing that they're doing so.

16. I think they just want an easy answer and a quick headline |
|
It's too hard for hairspray journalists to keep track of all those candidates. Even with ignoring Kucinich, Braun, and Sharpton there are still six to keep straight and that's too many. Just reduce it to one so there's more time for the latest on Michael Jackson and fluff pieces about Christmas shopping.
