The Battle of the Candidates is a good thing - |
|
As long as they don't become impossibly nasty, the struggle between all the candidates for Dem Prez is GOOD. It shows anyone who is following this that there is healthy debate, healthy differences, healthy similarities and it helps all of us who are not sure whether we should lean more left or more center. Ever since Clinton when it seemed necessary to lean towards the center, many are questioning that and want fighters. We have many in the race.
It helps everyone - we have to listen more carefully and figure out who is who and who of the endorsers we will let influence us.
Unlike 2000, when Rove and his troop took care of McCain in an unforgiveable way and unlike 2000, when it was obvious the Repub elite had selected the Texan (after acquiring the dancing-on-the-table-naked photos and taking care of certain records)...unlike that, this fight is healthy and appears to be honest.
In other words - it is a good old-fashioned American race.
And whether you realize it or not - there are no Dems out there who have been left out by the network coverage of the debates (so far).
We have had some great opportunities to 'read' the Pubs.
We have had some great opportunities to figure out how Rove will attack (a la Gore's colors and shirts and the lies about lies).
This is the way it should be.
