George Bush poured fuel on the flames of the Iraq contracts dispute yesterday with a sneering dismissal of a suggestion by the German Chancellor that the decision to bar Germany, France Russia and Canada from bidding might violate international law.
"International law? I'd better call my lawyer," the American President joked in response to a reporter's question at the White House.

Well, it was a change from the attractive scowl.

The main point is, it's obvious when you watch the tape that neither Bush or Rice even realizes this breaks international law. Because, as a country, we generally don't give a crap about such things, anyways. But there are rumblings in Europe about this. Who knows what will come of it. One thing's for sure, they ain't forgiving any debt anytime soon. Baker might as well forget even making his little trip for all the good it will do.
