Massachusetts Politicans Arm Dean against Kerry Attacks
Massachusetts Politicians Arm Dean Against Kerry Attack

As Sen. John F. Kerry intensified his attacks on Howard Dean's Iraq position, the former Vermont governor taunted Kerry without saying a word - releasing a list of Massachusetts pols campaigning for Dean this weekend.

Kerry declared the "foundation'' of Dean's campaign - that he opposed the Iraq war while Kerry and others backed it - is a lie that President Bush will use to pummel Dean if he is the Democratic nominee.

"I think the people of America deserve a president who tells them the truth,'' Kerry said after campaigning at Northeastern University. "And it is wrong for Howard Dean to criticize me and others for having had the wrong judgment when he himself exercised the exact same judgment.''

Dean then rolled out a list of 75 elected Bay State officials who will embarrass the senator by campaigning for Dean in New Hampshire this weekend. The officials include state Reps. Jay R. Kaufman of Lexington, Frank Smizik of Brookline and Charles A. Murphy of Burlington.

5. Not really
That's all over the whole entire state. City, county, and state. There's 200 elected officials at the state level alone. Kerry has 41 pages of various supporters organizing in Massachusetts.

6. yes, really
this on top of the fact that Dean is beating Kerry in the polls on Kerry's own home turf. Kerry's attacks look increasingly desperate and shrill, and unpresidential. whoever told him this was a viable campaign strategy, should be fired. not that it'd do any good. Kerry has already reinvented himself too many times in this campaign. he doesn't have enough time left to do it again.
