Can we talk about the issues? |
|
We're in Spinland, here. This is going nowhere.
Let's get back to what really matters. That's how Clinton won in 1992, you know- by talking about issues.

Lets hit up on the issues but which one?
Tax/Economy first. My little speech for any perspective candidate.
The Bush administration cannot succeed running the economy of the country like an Enron CEO. Though his administration has talked to the Enron guys and some of his administration people use to work for them. We need better than short term gains in the economy.
I think the better plan for the future of the economy is to repeal all the giveaways to the rich in the tax plan but keep the middle class and cuts for the working poor squarely in place. We need to balance the budget first and save the state of the economy from the borrow and spend hijinks of the Bush administration.
As a country, we have to reform and simplify the tax code. We need to close loopholes in the corporate tax code. We need to end the pork belly spending like golfing clubs for kids in Delay's district and the rest of 371 billion dollars of pork the radical Republican congress calls a spending bill. We need to end corporate welfare as we know it. It is not the goal of government to prop up and bloat out the corporate treasuries. No more giveaways.
We need to go after the corporate criminals and work with businesses to promote growth through small business initiatives.
We need to promote the health of the economy and competition in our society not play cronies to the criminals as we make our energy and health strategies.
Balance the budget, promote growth and simplify the tax code. That is a better formula than the irresposible nonsense of the Bush plans.

The tax law is indeed way too complicated, but repealing all the tax 'giveaways' is not going to sell. It was common knowledge before the tax cuts were given that people were being unfairly penalized for being married, and that the middle class bore too much of the burden.
That said, I definitely agree that we do indeed need to simplify the tax code, but do any candidates have plans on how they'd do that? I know the one I back does, but I wonder about others. For those interested, I'll post a link to the plan my candidate has proposed.
Next?
