Repost: I voted for George Bush |
|
George The Smarter, that is, back in '88. I voted in the Democratic primary, but went on to vote for GHW Bush in the general election. And I assure you, I did not do this because my guy lost in the primary (though he did lose). I voted for Poppy because I thought Poppy would be a better president than Dukakis.
If I thought Bush The Idiot would make a better president than the Democratic nominee this year, then why in the world would I vote for the Democratic nominee anyway? Conversely, if I thought the Democratic nominee would make a better president than Bush The Coward, then why in the world would you expect me to vote for Bush The Liar just because the Democratic nominee is not my first choice?
All of these "rally around the nominee" threads don't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Disclaimer: I would probably vote for the accused serial killer in northwestern Indiana over Bush on the basis that many a psychopath has proven to be an excellent leader of his country. How anyone regardless of ideology can look at the last three years and believe that Bush has proven to be anything but a complete, total incompetent is beyond me and should perhaps answer the challenge, "name ONE thing he hasn't f---ed up".
FYI for the Admins: according to the FAA the "F" word does not entail an obscenity except when used to describe a sexual act.

There might have been a strong chance that I would have voted for McCain over Gore, weird as that sounds.

That sounds odd. I, for instance, might consider McCain over, say, Kucinich. But then I have always been a fairly conservative liberal**. I can't imagine someone progressive enough to be a Green party voter voting for a conservative like McCain.
That is to say, I have a strong libertarian streak in me tempered by the fact that, anarchists excepted, we ALL believe in some restraints on freedom, we just disagree with where those restraints should go. I don't favor changing a lot of what we have which makes me a conservative. But I cherish the freedoms more than the traditions which makes me a liberal who can be described as conservative rather than the other way around.

Your disclaimer contradicts your post.
And the Federal Aviation Administration doesn't handle obscenity issues.

Stealing the 2000 election. & by the way he also had help in doing that from the person you voted for in 88.

6. Rally around the nominee |
|
How does that not make any sense? If your main objective is to get rid of Bush, what would you suggest?
People here have stated that they will not vote or vote third party if their guy or gal does not get the nomination.

8. Then their main objective ... |
|
... is not to get rid of Bush. Nor, it would seem, is it to get the best person possible running this country.
The best person for the job is probably some scientist with an active social life who cares deeply for the people around him and, more importantly, those he will never meet. But he isn't running.

This post still violates the spirit of the GD rules.
I'm going to lock this.
