"We are fighting the wrong war" - General Clark
Edited on Mon Dec-15-03 10:56 AM by Mountainman
The message that the Dems need to put out there is that we are not against just wars. We will fight when the cause is right. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. We need to go after the real terrorists and not spend our time fighting preemptive wars of imperialism. The terrorists are building up support because of our actions in Iraq. We are not safer today than were before 9/11 because of the Iraq war and we may and probably are less safe. Our freedoms are being sacrificed in the name of security. Do we really want to live in a country were we feel less free?

Dems will go after the real terrorists the right way.
Screw what Saddams capture means to Bush's chances! Take it to them! Give the country an alternative!

1. The good news on this theory is that...
When you get down to it, our candidates have no choice but to play it that way...

And The General is the best equipped to do it!:D

:kick:

2. I agree; I loved watching him fluster Judy Woodruff on this issue
yesterday when she was interviewing him. He retracted nothing from his statements about the Busheviks and their reckless war on the wrong people, and she was just speechless...
"On a day like today you still say that??" she finally managed to spit out...
Catching Saddam doesn't change the facts, people...

3. Clark looks at this differently than most
Clark looks at Iraq as matter of geo-political strategy. If war is failed diplomacy, and diplomacy is an attempt to pursue political objectives, then what political objectives related to terrorism has this war achieved. Answer: none.

It was easy for Clark to say his position has not changed, because it always had a rock-solid foundation.

Judy Woodruff causes me to puke...that's it...puke. I would guess that she was fresh off Rummy's Big Bash. She drools around republicans. I will never forget when she referred to Democrats as "those pesky Democrats." Now what kind of a journalist is that?

4. "We are fighting the wrong war"
Absolutely.
Unfortunately countries are usually tricked into war,
but this invasion and occupation shouldn't even be called "war."

5. 'Dems will go after the real terrorists the right way."
Exactly. All the Dems I know had no problems with Afghanistan. It was when Bush started with his personal vendetta that most of us started questioning his motives. And it turns out we were right. No WMDs. That was their excuse.

6. That's the way to spell it out!
I'm not a Clark supporter (I'm not anti-Clark either), but I think if you're going to be against the war in Iraq in our current political climate, his argument is the best. There are a lot of Americans who feel like we lost our way when we got involved in Iraq. I bet they would totally agree with Clark on that issue.
