The CBC is Wiping the Floor With Bush
Edited on Mon Dec-15-03 01:03 PM by sweet_scotia
It seems every time I walk into the TV room CBC is interviewing a guest who is slamming bush. This morning Michael Ratner, a human rights lawyer for the Center for Constitutional Rights was talking about the bush administration's dilemma in having a fair/open trial. According to Ratner bush is culpable for many Iraqi deaths due to his illegal war. No kudos for *

Later, an angry Iraqi woman talks about the violence and what a dick bush is.....she talked about soldiers disrespecting Iraqi women and the elderly....her thoughts on Saddam's capture: "Who cares? Our problem is not Saddam - it's the occupation"

A while ago, an Iraqi man living in London showing major disgust for bush and how his illegal war is not praised by educated people. (paraphrasing here)

Also says the end does not justify the means. The interviewer asks if he happy for his countrymen/women now that Saddam is gone and can no longer harm the Iraqi people ....the man says NO! - His people are now being subjected to a different kind of mistreatment.

Certainly no bush love fest on CBC!

10. listening info
http://www.cbc.ca/audio.html available in Real Player live in different time zones and QT in eastern.

the two primary current affairs show are
The Current, 8:35-10:00 AM
http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/ (with audio archives)

and As it Happens 6:30-8:00 PM (also heard on most NPR affiliates)
http://www.cbc.ca/aih

enjoy

the calibre of the debate and discussions never ceases to amaze me. certainly isn't dumbed down dribble like most commercial radio.

BTW Wes Clark testifying in the Hague made out national morning news breaks.

9. Nor anywhere else in the world
Yesterday's TV stunt only helped Smirk's standing with the limbeciles and other freepers. It will gain him nothing outside the world of talk radio and cable "news".

12. The CBC Rocks, however, what's the deal with Rex Murphy?
I don't get him, he seems to be a bigger US ass kisser than Mulrooney was. Please explain.

I don't think they broadcast online, too bad. I would like to add 'This Hour has 22 Minutes' is terrific.

17. It makes me proud
Edited on Mon Dec-15-03 01:34 PM by Minstrel Boy
to see the CBC appreciated here. Thanks all. :)

Many Canadians still don't recognize what a treasure we have, and that thanks to the CBC our news and current affairs programming is second to none. (Even after horrific budget cuts that began under Mulroney.)

Back when the CBC was created in the early 1930s, the case for a public broadcaster was that it's "either the state or the States." Without it, we wouldn't be the Canada I love.
