I bet 60% of Americans would say, "Yes, of course I am."

7. Who's Gonna Keep the Total...
of US soldiers dead AFTER Saddam got caught? (ala AFTER Bush announced end of major combat operations)

Yes, a despot was caught. The good side is the morale lift for our troops. Hopefully some resurgents will stop without the threat of Saddam coming back and retaliating.

Sorry, but until our troops come home and peace resides in the region, there's not that much to be happy about at this time.

6. I'm glad he has been captured.
It will make clear what the issues are. If this was about Saddam the war should be over in weeks, which would also be a good thing.

Oh yeah, * “explained” today that the invasion had something to do with 9/11. Which I guess means that, since * said it, it must be true. Far be it from me to ask just what the connection between the two is, I’m patriotic.

I am also way too patriotic to ask what happened to the WMD. Or to ask what the urgency of the invasion was. I’m too patriotic to want to know what Syria has to do with the invasion, or Iran.

But I am glad Saddam was captured, I seriously hope it brings an end to the maddness soon.

that's when Bush said the Mission was accomplished, and that the Regime is "no more"

Bush to troops in Qatar: 'Mission accomplished'
Thursday, June 5, 2003 Posted: 2:06 PM EDT (1806 GMT)

DOHA, Qatar (CNN) -- President Bush told U.S. troops in Qatar on Thursday that their duty and sacrifice had liberated the people of Iraq and helped in defeating global terrorism.

-snip-

Bush told the troops that coalition forces will "reveal the truth" in their search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

"We're going to look," Bush said. "We'll reveal the truth, but one thing is certain -- no terrorist network will gain weapons of mass destruction from the Iraqi regime because the Iraqi regime is no more."

the regime has been "no more" for 6 months now, and the possibility of terrorists getting WMD from Iraq has been over for 6 months now.

arresting Saddam is meaningless in this context

though it makes me wonder- if the regime ended 6 months ago, and the WMD threat ended 6 months ago, why the fuck are we still there???

11. Yes, because...
Edited on Mon Dec-15-03 04:29 PM by LondonReign2
...I felt safer when they pulled 26,000 liters of VX, 1,000,000 pounds of anthrax, hundreds of long-range chemical tipped missiles, and of course all that Niger yellowcake out of the hole with him...not to mention the blueprints for more balsa wood trans-Atlantic killer drones.

Whew, I can breathe a sigh of relief now.

12. it really doesn't matter
we are there and we took over the country and he might as well be captured so we know for sure, but I think in the long run his capture won't change a thing: we still have a country in chaos, we are still going to spend a fortune rebuilding it, we are still going to have innocent people on all sides being killed, and we still will have no WMD which is the reason Bush invaded Iraq.
