Ed Asner on Daily Show
Was hilarious. They kept going back and forth between this idiotic right wing group compiling a list of "anti-Americans" in hollywood and Ed. Made quite a monkey out of the group.

3. excellent Q
if he was, it was worthy of, say, your smoothest psycho/sociopathic pugfascoid you can name off the top of your head.

he was inspired, if he was acting.

I don't think so, though.

if you have cable, it's rerun three times; once tonight, midnight CST,
then twice tomorrow.

well worth watching, also for what went before in the fake news segment

4. seemed real to me

My guess would be that Rob Courdry just asked obnoxious questions without warning.

6. Television doesn't work like that.
Ed Asner is an old pro, he's not going to improvise something like that for television.

7. you haven't seen the other, similar interviews they do, have you?
they ask the craziest questions possible, trying to get a rise out of people, and most are clearly taken aback.

Asner was holding it in, IMO, then hitting him with some appropriately funny bleeped responses.

I may be wrong, but don't care, cause it was really really, insanely funny!

and I mean that.

now get out of here.

8. It was an interview. Asner can be interviewed without a script. (nt)

11. Watching it again, I'm sure he was acting....
Rob was laying it on thick and, if it were real, Ed would've tossed him on his ass for such shit. The fact that he sat there, calm yet sharp with the profanity, makes me think it was an act.

5. Was he serious a couple of months ago about Joe Stalin?
He said that he would like to do a project about him since he's been so misunderstood or something like that?

Oooooooooooh Missster Grayunt!

9. The writer of the article about the Stalin crap retracted...
Edited on Tue Dec-16-03 11:59 PM by alg0912
Kevin McCullough, the World*cough*Net*gag*Daily reporter that levelled the original charge at Ed Asner retracted it...

The WorldNutDaily Retraction:

<snip>
In my WorldNetDaily column, I incorrectly quoted both myself and actor Edward Asner near the end of the column. The lack of accuracy occurred because I did not wait to review the audio of the media session in which Mr. Asner and I interacted. To date, I still have not personally reviewed the audio, but have made multiple good faith efforts to obtain it. I will not only review it upon receipt but also play the actual audio on my radio show so as to communicate the quote correctly in all formats.

Upon reflection, I should have waited for the original audio so as to quote the parties involved as accurately as possible. Fairness and truth are what I am in constant search of and, therefore, when I am wrong I should be the first to admit such shortcomings. I do apologize to Mr. Asner for use of the inaccurate quotes regarding Joseph Stalin. What follows is what I have been told are the actual quotes on the audio recording:

McCullough: "If you could portray an historical biography and you had an unlimited budget, unlimited support cast and everything you could ask for, who would it be?"

Asner: "Well, you know something, they've played Hitler, nobody has ever really touched Stalin, it just occurred to me. It's not because I am a liberal or anything like that. Stalin is one big damn mystery, I wonder why nobody has tried it? Many people, you know, speak of the fact that he killed more people than Hitler – why does nobody touch him? It's strange. So, and he was about my size, my height – with a wig I probably could do it."

</snip>
