STOP fighting, instead focus on winning the senate
if we used half as much energy focusing on regaining congress and the senate, that we use bashing each others candidate, this could once again be an awesome party.
There are a few democratic senate seats up for grabs, if we regain those seats, even if Bush is re-elected that would be a war that he could not win. If Bush loses, and we lose the senate seats, that would be a war we could not win.
People, please think about that when deaniacs are bashing Clarkies. Lieberman people(r there any?)think about that when you bash the deanies. Same goes for Kerry, Gephardt, Dennis, and John's people.
Look at the total picture and not just looking to get your man elected.

4. unfortunately on here
people are so focused on their own candidates and not the main prize. We need to focus on the 2 houses right now, because right now Bush is looking pretty good. We all know that come debate time, he is going to ride Saddam all the way back to the Whitehouse.
We need to make sure that if this happens that it will be a bumpy ride for the next four years. We can be optimistic, but we also need to be realistic.

3. Win the Senate and you win the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals
Don't and you'll be fighting to hold onto rights you've already gotten passed so far. Imagine what could happen to Miranda rights, free speech and campaign finance with another Scalia on the SC?

7. Ok no move to the middle but a move just left of center
No, you cannot win being repuke-lite but the people of this country are very centrist in their views.

The sad thing is that on many issues if polled seperately the public supports Dem policies more than Repub policies.

Makes me thing that we are not making ourselves clear or recruiting the kind of charisma it takes to win elections out there in the real world. The corporate media hates losers and wimps. We need candidates that ooze confidence and strength.

Do not give up. The nation is divided. It is only our own disorganization and inability to put forth a coherent strategy that prevents us Dems from taking back the Congress. We can work that out.

What the hell do you do?

Let me tell you what I think.

Listen you have to moderate on two issues -- gun control (Americans love their guns) and the death penalty (an eye for an eye = votes).

Everything else is up for grabs and can be explained out in a populist voice.

You got to frame it like my grandfather did to me once a good Georgia Dem , "Son the Republicans don't care about nobody but the rich man."

I have never heard truer words in all my days.

You paint the Repukes as self-serving rich boy radicals like Clinton did.

You explain to the selfish how progressive policies benefit them like Michael Moore does in, "Dude Where is My Country?"

Grassroots organization is the future of the Democratic party.

Learn the lessons from the late Paul Wellstone.

All the old-school Dems are getting a formal ass-kicking from the Deanies and the donation train. Use the new media and embrace it completely.

Don't be shy or afraid to get dirty when they go negative. I don't care what anyone says the Goldwater atom bomb ad was priceless. Johnson had plenty of faults but he knew how to take the campaign to his opponent.

Aim your message at your audience like Mike Warner's campaign in Virginia.

The blueprint for success is out there. We just have to have the will to pick it up and put the pieces together.

We have to win the Congress back. Raygun could have been far worse than shrub if he had Congress behind him. Think about it. Think about the scandals from the Raygun administration. Do you really think any of that would have seen the light of day with a Repub Congress? No. Tip O'Neil and others fought long and hard against the Republicans.

We need Congress badly. I am not saying that we are mis-placed in fighting to get Bush out. What I am saying that we cannot forget the legislative branch.
