Could the Flu outbreak in the US really be a SARS outbreak?
The symptons are so close and at least three people who immune systems should be strong enough for the flu have died. What do you think?

1. If it is, then I beat SARS
After being ill for a month, I woke up yesterday feeling the best I have in months.

SARS does not have a 100% fatality rate.

6. yeah, I know
But I'm not known for having the best immune system, so I'm not placing odds on me surviving the real deal. ;-)

8. Symptons

SARS-
The illness usually begins with a high fever (measured temperature greater than 100.4°F <>38.0°C>). The fever is sometimes associated with chills or other symptoms, including headache, general feeling of discomfort, and body aches. Some people also experience mild respiratory symptoms at the outset. Diarrhea is seen in approximately 10 percent to 20 percent of patients.

Flu
Influenza is typified by a high fever, a dry cough, much worse aching all over, and feeling terrible. Colds generally last about a week, the flu up to 2 weeks.

3. All fear all the time
Osama's hiding under your bed, booga booga!
A giant mushroom cloud over an American city!
Drones of death!
We're all gonna get the flu and die! Wait, no, SARS!
Your blanket could kill you!
We went to your local salad bar, and you won't believe what we found!
Take a look at this shocking video!

And when we return, Biff will have the sunny weather forecast.

7. It's not SARS.
It's Fujian flu coupled with a new strain of bird flu that is causing so much trouble.

10. The flu can have some nasty strains.
It's bad this year. It's been worse before, like during the pandemic that ended WWI. I don't see the big deal about SARS when the flu kicks our ass year after year after year.

11. SARS?! With our hysterical media/culture there would be chaos.
We have to be the most raw open nerved society in the history of man.

Mass hysteria is our new, maybe not so new, national state of mind. I can see the mobs of bedraggled soccer moms burning bed sheets already...

<sigh>

12. No
Because the medical community has obviously done tests to see which virus is causing these illnesses, and SARS is not influeza. Just because the symptoms are similar means nothing.
