Saddam capture/exile not a goal of Iraq war
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/03/18/iraq/main544517.shtml

Fleischer said that even if Saddam leaves the country, U.S. forces will still enter Iraq for the purpose of disarming it of weapons of mass destruction.

If someone ever tries to tell you this war was about Saddam Hussein, mention this. Troops were going into Iraq no matter what Saddam did. Since capturing Saddam was never a goal of the war, his capture certainly cannot logically justify it.

4. I owe it to Chomsky and cryofan
Edited on Sat Dec-20-03 12:36 AM by jpgray
I was fact-checking his Charlie Rose statement that Bush said it explicitly at the Azores summit for precisely this kind of ammo. He was mistaken about the location and spokesman, but he was right about the sentiment. I think cryofan was the one who found the Ari statement--it's really a valuable thing to remember. I had wholly forgotten it. :)

edit: clarity

8. getting rid of Saddam was never put up front
if it were so important, why not focus on that instead of the bogus WMD claims?
