1. I'm putting you on ignore. |

Again.
If your point was to get read, you succeeded. But I've rarely seen a cheaper way to get there. And I will NOT subject myself to anything like this from you ever again.
I hope you find a way to get off whatever it is you're using, man. It'll destroy you, that much I know for sure.

Yeah, I know what you mean about some seemingly trivial threads. But having lurked here for a year before before I joined, and even then posting only occaisionally, I can attest to the benefits of DU being a place for camaraderie and just plain silliness sometimes. I've learned a LOT since I've made DU mandatory daily reading. But I enjoy the humor as well.
I don't know how you can claim to know that "So many really good conversations go virtually unread here in DU" In fact, you can't know that. Believe it or not, most of us do not feel obligated to form or voice an opinion about every topic that get's started.
There are almost 30,000 people subscribed to DU. Can't please everyone, and what might seem stupid and disappointing to you might be the glue that is holding others together. I think some topics are stupid too. I skip them. When I see a topic that says "I just suffered a gunshot wound in the stomach, what should I do?", I shake my head but read to see if they lived long enough to get off DU long enough to call 911. A lot of people are down on their luck - jobless, losing their homes, 401K's, health ins, etc., that is a relevant Democratic issue. And then there is the attitude by "some" that your opinion has no validity unless you have over 1000 posts, and conversely, if someone has over 1000 post they are authorities on anything they care to give an opinion about. But I digress ....
You can always skip the non-serious threads. There's also an ignore button for those you always deem to be to frivolous to be worthy of your time. You might also consider, for yourself, what are your expectations of DU2, and whether your expectations are realistic. Are you particularly serious and critical in other aspects of your life besides politics?
