Blame Canada?
So, the cow was from Canada. Convenient. US Beef is safe. Canada's is not. Scare over. Move along. Don't mind that man behind the curtain. (Or have I become one of THEM??!!?!?? The tin hat crowd?)

I'm surprised we didn't say it came from France.

4. Knew it was going to happen
We here just talked about it the day they announced the "One Cow" infected cover up/scam. Why take responsibility when you have so many spread around to take the blame.

(snip)

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says in a report released on Wednesday that an unusually large group of cows were imported from the United States shortly before animal protein was banned from cattle feed.

"Canada cannot, to date, exclude the possibility that the index case itself derived through this huge, unique importation," the report says.

The CFIA says 25,000 pregnant cows came to Canada from the United States in 1998.

10. The article says it is a 1:20 chance the cow came from outside Canada
So is is quite reasonable to blame Canada. According to these Canadians, there is a 95% chance that the cow was from Canada.

12. What a joke!
Anyone who trusts this banana republic administration to protect them from mad cow disease or anything else is already brain dead. So I guess it's academic.

13. Blame USA for letting into the food supply
It should never been allowed into the food supply once Mad Cow was suspected, how are they going to blame that on Canada?

14. From what I understand
Mad Cow Disease can be dormant in animals for long periods of time (I think I heard 5 years on the radio). It isn't easy to tell whether a cow is infected until it is too late. I think the blame lies with wherever the cow came from originally. If it came from Canada (where I currently live) then something needs to be done on this end--for the safety of Canadians. Until then, no more red meat for me.

Aside from pointing fingers, though, isn't there a blood or tissue test they can perform on a living cow to see if is infected?
