Yurica ! Dots connected ! Hollywood scriptwriters, take note!
Edited on Mon Jul-28-03 11:32 PM by TruthIsAll
A masterpiece. If and when Bush is impeached or is forced to resign or is blasted at the polls, these interlocking facts will be what brings him down.

In any case, he is toast! Hollywood scriptwriters, take note!

Fraud Traced to the White House

How California’s energy scam was inextricably
linked to a war for oil scheme
______________________

By Katherine Yurica

This story begins with the California energy crisis, which started in 2000 and continued through the early months of 2001, when electricity prices spiked to their highest levels. Prices went from $12 per megawatt hour in 1998 to $200 in December 2000 to $250 in January 2001, and at times a megawatt cost $1,000.

One event occurred earlier. On July 13, 1998, employees of one of the two power-marketing centers in California watched incredulously as the wholesale price of $1 a megawatt hour spiked to $9,999, stayed at that price for four hours, then dropped to a penny. Someone was testing the system to find the limits of market exploitation. This incident was the earliest indication that the people and the state could become victims of fraud. The Sacramento Bee broke the story three years later, on May 6, 2001.

Today, Californians are still paying the costs of the debacle while according to state officials the power companies who manipulated the energy markets reaped more than $7.5 billion in unfair profits.

During those early months of the Bush administration, and even during the prior transition period, Dick Cheney was deeply involved in gathering information for a national energy policy. The intelligence he gathered would provide justification for a war against Iraq but would also place White House footprints all over a fraud scam. This is how it all happened.

16. Please give us the facts (with proper references) --
Perhaps you could give us the facts that explain why reference to Iraq's oil keep popping up in the Cheney (Ken Lay) energy policy. Was our energy policy to get Iraq's oil? Sure appears that way -- interesting that the "energy policy" documents released recently through Judicial Watch's suit against Cheney included Iraqi (and Saudi and UAE's) oil maps. Do you really think it's ok to use the life and treasure of the US to steal another country's resources?

6. When the scales fall from your eyes,
maybe you will see the big swastika imprinted on your heroes. Isn't the Enron logo just one big swastika bent slightly so it doesn't look so obvious?

12. Ah the ad hominen attack, typical of the RW debater who has nothing.
left to say. So here's some real ad hominem. BushCo are nothing but a bunch of unelected fascists who started a war for no other reason than to gain oil. They fabricated reasons as much as Hitler did to invade Poland. I am not going to give you a history lesson on the board but the library should be a good place to start.

11. Blatant falsehoods.

Even an imbecile could review the abundantly available data from reliable sources (not Rush). I'll merely cite one and waste no more time.

From the Center for Responsive Politics:
Between 1989 and 2001, Enron contributed nearly $6 million to federal parties and candidates, more than two-thirds to Republicans. More than $2 million of that money came during the 1999-2000 election cycle alone, when the company became one of the biggest boosters to President Bush’s campaign for the White House. Enron’s PAC and its employees contributed $114,000 to Bush during the 2000 campaign, while former Enron CEO Kenneth Lay served as one of Bush’s Pioneers, individuals who raised at least $100,000 for the campaign.

Between 1989 and 2001, Enron gave a total of $11,000 to Bill Clinton's campaigns. That's $11,000 in 13 years. (See here)

I notice you make false claims without a single cite to back them up. Typical. :puke:

Get an enema and clear your 'mind'. :puke:

15. How many "rolling blackouts"?
This is a test.

I lived in California during the period described.

I was attending the conference at which Jeff Skilling made his infamous "California and Titanic" joke. I sat there and saw him make the joke in person. Hardee fucking harrr.

Now ... how many rolling blackouts did we have?

7. MUST READ!
This seems very well documented. Some of the conclusions may be a stretch, but it paints a very damning circumstantial case.

These people are just pirates who've stolen our government. This is really shocking.

14. This Californian is not as enchanted with you at movie stars running
You're quoting one, and probably want to vote for another. Quotes from a fictional script do not make good public policy. :eyes: Son, this is not a video game.

18. WOW!!!!!!!
This is a damning report. I'm enormously glad I took the time to read it and will begin passing it on. How soon do you think we could have some media attention on this whopping big story? Me thinks it could help Gray Davis in California.
