Was Bush* chosen by God to lead in these times of peril?
- I hear this several times a day from various sources. Could it be true? Could it be that God whispered in George's* ear one night and called him to serve as his prophet, warrior and leader of the free world? Did God send a similar message to certain members of the Supreme Court?

- How would we know if any of this is true? The problem is that we can't know...which is something Bush* and his loyal enablers depend upon to successfully perpetuate this scam and gigantic leap of faith.

- What if George* is using God and religion to gain political advantage in a country where many claim to be Christian? He has gone way beyond other presidents with their claims of belief in God. Bush* has actually stated that he believes God has called him to lead.

- It's the most cynical of political tactics to invoke God's name to make yourself seem more worthy and moral than your political opponent. But that's exactly what Bush* is doing in a country afraid of its own shadow and looking for protection from 'evil'.

14. Yes indeed.
At the Aqaba summit Bush reportedly said that to then Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas.
According to Abbas, immediately thereafter Bush said: "God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them."
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=310788&contrassID=2&subContrassID=1&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y

This quote has always amused me since Bush's god apparently wants Bush to work for peace in the Middle East only if it does not interfere with Bush's election campaign. How very republican.

It sounds like he quoted it from the next revision of the Bible.

6. I am god
and I didn't vote for W.

But in my religion I believe that you are god too, so what does that make W? Actually, in keeping with the gnostic faith I believe W is the embodiment of the anti-christ, therefore not god.

11. It's that old yin - yang thing
You can't have one without the other and most things are a combination of both. It's the eternal battle of trying to balance the two. However within individuals some are mostly light and some are mostly darkness. Most are a combination of both. I think W & Co fall into the category of mostly darkness and right now it does seem that those who are mostly darkness seem to be winning but this too shall pass, eventually.

Edited on Mon Dec-29-03 07:01 PM by htuttle
Or stop the killing/dying in Iraq? Or global warming and pollution?
Will God do something about Mad Cow disease?
How about God doing something about North Korea?

Or does GOD mostly only care about US elections?

:eyes:

Dear God
Dear God, hope you got the letter, and...
I pray you can make it better down here.
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
but all the people that you made in your image, see
them starving on their feet 'cause they don't get
enough to eat from God, I can't believe in you

Dear God, sorry to disturb you, but... I feel that I should be heard
loud and clear. We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
and all the people that you made in your image, see them fighting
in the street 'cause they can't make opinions meet about God,
I can't believe in you

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue? Did you make
mankind after we made you? And the devil too!

Dear God, don't know if you noticed, but... your name is on
a lot of quotes in this book, and us crazy humans wrote it, you
should take a look, and all the people that you made in your
image still believing that junk is true. Well I know it ain't, and
so do you, dear God, I can't believe in I don't believe in

I won't believe in heaven and hell. No saints, no sinners, no
devil as well. No pearly gates, no thorny crown. You're always
letting us humans down. The wars you bring, the babes you
drown. Those lost at sea and never found, and it's the same the
whole world 'round. The hurt I see helps to compound that
Father, Son and Holy Ghost is just somebody's unholy hoax,
and if you're up there you'd perceive that my heart's here upon
my sleeve. If there's one thing I don't believe in

it's you....

8. Only people who say they are chosen by a god
are actually adored as one. Bush family and Bush ministry of propaganda knows this. Anyone, in this day and age who cannot see how religion is used for evil, is not paying attention.

Relligion is actually enabling death and destruction of innocent people. It is religion and there is not a doubt about it. You got religion? Then you have to believe that these infidels deserved to die under the "sword" of a stupid, and an evil man, George Bush

I dare anyone to tell me how their religion is fighting this Bush fascist, dependance, and arrogant use of the god, in order to kill people.

12. I have no doubt he's playing the God card
Edited on Mon Dec-29-03 07:23 PM by jokerman2004
Yesterday (Sunday), I was sitting at a window table at my favorite cafe. I couldn't help but overhear a loud conversation at a nearby table. Two men were discussing the superiority of "Christ" over the power of learned and intellectual leadership. They were actually siting passages to each other from the gospel that supposedly proved that Christ, although common and uneducated, was able to best the highly educated and legally trained pharisees and judges. One man insisted that he had once been "totally intellectual" before accepting Christ.

The conversation topic then moves to George W Bush. Our erstwhile "totally intellectual" believer, scoffs a bit at Bush for being "a little dumb", but has decided to support Bush because he is "the one making way for 'The Community of Christ'".

It gave me a chill.

And I continued drawing pentagrams...

19. There is a great series of books by Piers Anthony
that actually has a regime change in Heaven.

The series is called the Incarnations of Immortality. There were seven books where a certain idea or concept was an actual job held by a person. The seven Incarnations in the series were Death, Time, Fate, War, Nature, Evil (Satan), and Good (God).

One of the best sci fi/fantasy series that I have read. Very thought provoking, interesting and entertaining. The last book, "And Eternity", was about getting a new God because the current one was not doing His job.

To stay on topic, though, no, I do not believe God has chosen * to lead.

18. I live in OK and I hear this everyday
The day after the 'election' of 2000, there were prayer meetings for god to put his hand over the ballots so that W would 'win.'

I have also heard several times in response to the voting fisaco in FL that the whole thing, including ending in the supreme court, proved that god was in charge and overcame the machinations of human beings.

21. It's for political gain alright
I've never heard him say that Jesus was his savior. In the debates, he called Christ his "favorite philosopher". But not the one he prays to. I hear God invoked alot from him. But you could say that it could be any god since he does not specify the god.
