Funny story about Fox News and my wingut sister-in-law |
|
My brother, sister-in-law, and 15 month old nephew were in town staying at my parent's house for the holidays the last few days. I was over at my parent's visiting last night. After using the bathroom upstairs, then returning downstairs, I was horrified to find out they were watching Fox News. I said upon entering the living room, "Fox News. Why is that on?!" Almost on cue, the airhead newscaster on Fox said, "Some people think things are going well in Iraq, some people think things are not going well." She then exclaimed in a much louder, excited voice, "But here is an Iraqi who thinks things are going very well." On cue, I said, "Fair and balanced. Yeah, right." My wingut sister-in-law mumbled something about how Fox is fair and balanced, but I guess my dazed look made her think abou the comment. She then mumbled something about how CNN is not balanced. So, we turned to CNN and they were covering the Michael Jackson case. Yes, an example of the liberal media on CNN. What a joke.
By the way, she does have a Masters degree.
Does anyone else have wingut-in-laws?

My wife's sister is a good Dem and she's married to a winger. He says the Dixie Chicks should move to Iraq and all that stupid shit. However, he's been awful quiet lately.

....my dad has done the biggest political/ethical about face in modern history. he voted for mcgovern and was as liberal as they come in the 60's/70's. then he voted for reagan and it all went downhill from there. he is now an NRA-card carrying right wing-nut facist. i haven't talked to him in years specifically because i find it impossible to carry on a conversation with him. in fact, our last conversation was thanksgiving during the 2000 election debacle. he literally asked me why liberals were so mean to conservatives. it was the first time i ever laughed in the man's face.

That's a shame that politics has come between you.

my folks and i disagree on a lot of things, but I will not make politics personal. There are many things more important than political views.

3. Wingnut sister, b-i-l and 2 nephews. |
|
Thank goodness we live about 1000 miles away from each other. I get the endless Rush/Drudge/etc. e-mail crap which, of course is debunked in 3 seconds by doing a basic google/Snopes/FactorFiction search, then sent back with a "Reply All". My nephew has a poster of Ronnie Raygun in his apartment. My b-i-l is an MD, sister is a nurse, one nephew has his degree, the other is a junior in college.
What drives me crazy is that this sister was probably the most liberal in my family when we were growing up. Funny how money and social climbing can change your soul, isn't it?

registered Democrats. Of course, I can't toot my horn too loudly. None were Repubs anyway; they were independents. My aunt and uncle are another story. Big time Repubs. Think Bush is GOD.

When I was getting my bachelors, there was one woman who had to be spoonfed every concept. She and another student were caught redhanded plagarizing straight from the very book assigned by the prof. Why they weren't suspended from the program I don't know, except that her husband had some money and donated a sizable chunk to the college.
This same woman applied for and was accepted in our state university where once again money greased the skids, and she now has a masters that I'm sure was bought by poor old hubby. Advanced degrees don't automatically translate into advanced knowledge, though they should.

for sure. They don`t want fair and balanced they want Bu$h to force the rest of us to be good christians like him. And they do not get away with telling their lies around me. My Jarhead ass will put them straight with the facts in a heart beat and they know I`m tired of them telling me it was ok to ship my country down the cesspool on account of they are jealous of Clintons penis. My MIL is apolitical, but my BIL and his wife are definitely wingnuts. BIL loves Bill O'Reilly...I think he's been a fan of his since 2001. His wife makes comments about people "looking like lesbians."
They both think I am from another planet, and I'm glad they think that way!

14. About that "looking like lesbians." |
|
Is that appearing to be lesbians or viewing something like lesbians do? Just curious.
