Now I know why (D) Evan Bayh always sounds like Bush supporter:

Yahoo News

-snip-

"The Democratic Party is at risk of being taken over from the far left," U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana, the group's chairman, told reporters at a two-day DLC convention here.

If we want to govern, we have to offer the American people more than just nostalgia and more than just criticism."

The council released the results of a survey by former Clinton pollster Mark Penn that showed President Bush (news - web sites) as vulnerable on domestic issues including the economy, health care, the federal deficit and education.

But the poll of 1,225 "likely 2004 voters" conducted June 20 to July 1 also said Democrats faced a huge challenge attracting voters from suburban families -- clear majorities of whom were seen to criticize the party as too liberal, beholden to special interests and out of touch with mainstream America.

2. That asswipe isn't even realistic
<i>"The Democratic Party is at risk of being taken over from the far left,"</i>

As much as I can wish and pray, Bernie Sanders is not getting the Democratic Presidential nomination. I like Kucinich but I wish more people from the Progressive Caucus would run in order to give us equal representation in the race.

3. And the saddest thing to me is that ...
his dad, Senator Birch Bayh was one of my two political heros back in the early 1970's. His mother, Marvella, died of cancer many years ago in 1979, but she would would have been disappointed in Evan. Here's a bit of info about her...

6. They also say we rely on polls too much Evan.
Ten years after Gingrich started a political civil war and two years after Trent Lott admitted that war was a reality some Democrats are still afraid to take their own side in a fight. We've tried what he's talking about. It allows Republicans to control the tone of debate and it discourages turnout at the polls. I'd rather win or go down fighting.

7. funny how nobody here talks about the acurate parts
"If we want to govern, we have to offer the American people more than just nostalgia and more than just criticism."

I'd say that's a pretty obvious problem that some here don't agknowledge

- A too far left of mainstream PERCEPTION is a bigger problem than that pleasing the stupid Naderites

Bayh and Breaux are the most conservative members of the DLC, most members of which DON'T vote with the GOP nearly as much and aren't "corrupted" by it's influence, or lack thereof.

It's just a membership dems in tough elections can point to for the independant vote, to make them APPEAR more mainstream

8. And on the other side of their mouth....
these assholes criticize Dean for having TOO MUCH suburban support.

I'm starting to remember why I voted Nader in 2000.
