MERIDIAN, Miss. -- A white man who reportedly had complained about blacks and said he was capable of killing went on a shooting rampage Tuesday at a plant in Meridian, leaving five of his co-workers dead before turning the gun on himself.

Eight people were taken to hospitals after the 9:30 a.m. shooting spree at the Lockheed Martin plant near the Alabama line.

Authorities confirmed the shooter as Doug Williams, age unknown, who some employees describe as a "racist."

Among the shooting victims were four black employees and one white employee.
