As of Monday, 244 U.S. soldiers have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Defense Department's most recent figures.

The British government has reported 43 deaths.

On or since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 108 U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq, the Pentagon's most recent figures show.

Among the latest casualties, according to the military:

They were assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Army Spc. Ramon Reyes Torres, 29, of Caguas, Puerto Rico, was killed July 16 in Baghdad. Reyes Torres was killed as he sought cover during an attack. He was assigned to the 432nd Transportation Company, Ceiba, Puerto Rico.
