DLC are just corporate whores, pro-war bastards
The DLC is the "Republican-lite side" of the Democrat Party.

The DLC LOST the US Congress.
The DLC LOST the Presidency.
The DLC whores were pro-Bush enablers AND
are still pro-Bush enablers.

The DLC idea of bi-partisanship is give the rt-wing
bastards what they want.

The DLC let the rt-wing STEAL the election 2000 AND
then told the DEMOCRATS to move on.

The DLC refused to let the Congressional Black Caucus
EVEN voice their protest of the electorial votes.

The DLC IS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY's MAIN PROBLEM --

The DLC ARE NOT PART OF THE OPPOSITION PARTY TO BUSH,
BUT BUSH ENABLERS.

well SRCEW THE FRICK'EN DLC CORPORATE WHORES !!!!!!

3. ...
The Centrist Dems (I'm not one of them) are also the ones who can actually win elections, even if they didn't last time. Everyone here needs to bite the bullet on this one: moderates win presidencies.

8. The DLC knows how to fundraise from granting favors to big corporations
Big corporations want regulations that protect the environment, consumers and their smaller competitors watered down or revoked. The DLC helps do this for campaign funds.

This is their version of moderation. It's they aren't taking the moderate voters' position, they are moderating between what the voters want and what their big buisness contributors want.

11. Take that from a 17,..almost 18 year old.
;-)

Gore fared better when he picked up a challenging populist tone. Don't echo the spin that is broadcast as the conventionally accepted truth.

13. The DLC has never won an election
Clinton won in '92 and '96 because of his charisma and leadership. The DLC has lost every election it has ever used its strategy in.

Lost the Congress in '94 and continues to lose it.

Lost the 2000 election.

Lost HUGE in 2002.

The DLC strategy is a failed strategy. Wake up and smell the coffee.

2. Why not figure who all is in the DLC
since there are many liberals in there including Debbie Stabenow who voted against the war.

We need to look at the individual candidates and not the group. Bitching about the DLC will not help us get Bush out of the White House.

5. I totally agree.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I've seen no evidence that the DLC is any different than any other group, like, say, the NAACP.

They CALL themselves the Democratic Leadership Council, and they have big name members, but... so?

Those who align themselves should reconsider the banner they rally beneath.

4. it occured 2 me.
after receiving the latest money solictation 'questionaire/report card' from the DNC, what they need 2 B doing is taking their own pulse. Loaded questions- well yes I support a woman's right to choose and yes, I support cleaner air & water -should give way to how can the DNC broaden our appeal/attract voters/re-connect w/ the base we have alienated. I am still supremely pissed off that McCauliff (forgot how 2 spell his name) has SUDDENLY made an appearance 'n pronouncement (no other dem candidates) in the CA recall farce. The DNC/DLC takes this state 4 granted!

9.  I think they are driven by polls rather then shaping opinion.
Repugs put alot of effort into getting their spin desseminated, DLC is at the mercy of that effort rather than promoting threir own.

10. Yeah, and DU'ers are just a bunch of socialist pacifist weenies
I can see how making wildly exaggerated statements can make you feel better, but how about trying a little truth once in a while?

>The DLC LOST the US Congress.

Actually, the "DLC" didn't "Lose" anything. The Democrats were well on their way to losing Congress long before the DLC existed. If it weren't for Watergate, the Republicans would have probably taken over Congress by the late 70's/early 80's. But a huge Democratic landslide in 1974 in the wake of the Watergate scandal kept the Democrats in control of the House for another two decades. But the Democrats DID lose control of the Senate after the 1980 election, where many liberal Democrats (McGovern, Church, Bayh among others) lost their seats to conservative Republicans.

>The DLC LOST the Presidency.

DLC candidates won the popular vote in three consecutive presidential elections.

>The DLC whores were pro-Bush enablers AND
are still pro-Bush enablers.

Actually, the DLC has strongly opposed most, if not all, of Bush's domestic policies. Just visit NDOL.org and you'll see plenty of articles critical of Bush. Some DLC members in the Senate voted for the Bush tax cuts, but even more opposed them. Many DLC members supported the war, but then again, most Americans supported the war. And the fact is, DLC members tend to represent constituencies that are not overwhelmingly Democratic. So it's ridiculous to expect DLC members to vote like left-wing Democrats from safe districts.

We should purge anybody to the right of Maxine Waters from the party.

All Democrats must take a pledge

to legalize drugs

to oppose all foreign intervention

to unilaterally disarm

to support a one state solution in Palestine favored by Noam Chomsky

to raise the top marginal rate to 70%

to abrogate all our bilateral trade treaties including GATT, NAFTA, and WTO

to oppose everthing Bush favors

to support single payer system in medicine no matter what the physicians, the people, and the insurance companies want

Yeah, that's what we should do so Chimpy can carry all fifty states this time..

This is f-u-c-k-i-n-g crazy.
