Can someone help me prove this statement from moveon
"Contrast this with the behavior of the RNC and its allies when supporters of President Bush used TV ads morphing the face of Sen. Max Cleland (D-GA) into that of Osama Bin Laden during the 2002 Senate race. "

I can't find anything via google refering to this add, I need proof for a freeper I am having a debate with.

3. This appears to be a piece of copy from one of the ads
...via the google link above:

The spot begins with a screen showing video footage of al Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden and Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. "As America faces terrorists and extremist dictators, Max Cleland runs television ads claiming he has the courage to lead," an announcer states.

The ad continues: "Max Cleland says he has the courage to lead. But the record proves Max Cleland is just misleading."

4. Also, from the Macon Telegraph article...
...again linked above:

"The ad, sponsored by Republican Rep. Saxby Chambliss' Senate campaign, doesn't directly compare Cleland and the rogue leaders but alleges the senator isn't telling the truth when he claims to support some of President Bush's efforts in the war against terrorism. It began airing Friday in the Atlanta market."

5. So are you saying MoveOn is wrong
That it wasn't Bush or his supporters but someone elses campaign and they didn't compare Cleland to Osama?

6. I think it was the Chambliss Senate campaign
I don't think Bush had anything to do with it directly. Of course those supporting Chambliss would probably support Bush as well. And it doesn't sound like they compared Cleland to Osama or Saddam.

7. I disagree
The clear intent of the ad WAS to get the recipient to associate Cleland with Osama and Saddam.

9. The relative intent is what is important here
The Chambliss ad was part of an overall rethug effort to tie honorable folks like Cleland to Osoma and Saddam. It was shameful and a total disgrace.

The moveon.org ad was one submission in a contest! It is not a finalist and never would have been a finalist. Moveon.org did not create the ad in question, it did not finance it, it did not endorse it in anyway.

The intent of the rethugs with the Chambliss add was true political hate speech.

10. Chambliss IS a supporter of Bush, and his campaign was
also heavily supported by the Cons and their party apparatus.

They used similar ads in other campaigns, also with the blessing of the RNC.

MoveOn's statement is completely accurate.

8. from spinsanity............
http://www.spinsanity.org/columns/20021025.html

Two Republican Senate campaigns have also used references to Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda to attack their opponants. On October 13, Rep. Saxby Chambliss, R-Georgia, who is challenging incumbent Democratic Senator Max Cleland of Georgia, launched an ad associating Cleland with bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, which Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call described as follows:

The spot begins with a screen showing video footage of al Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden and Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

"As America faces terrorists and extremist dictators, Max Cleland runs television ads claiming he has the courage to lead," an announcer states.

The ad continues: "Max Cleland says he has the courage to lead. But the record proves Max Cleland is just misleading."
