Gay Adoption Opponents Ought To Watch "Adoption Stories" ... |
|
... on the Discovery-Health channel. It's on right now.
Currently they are showing the profile and bio information on the gay couple that wants to adopt a child. It's heartwarming to see a couple that's so in love and devoted and who want to raise a family together.
The opponents of gay couples adopting children ought to also consider what's TRULY best for the child's welfare. I would hope that watching something like this would help them to see how unfair they are being.
If you can't watch it today, look for it to be repeated sometime soon. Record it and watch it when there's nothing else on.
Okay... that's all I wanted to say. Thanks for reading this.

1. Why are 1/2 of the gays in Vermont living in sin (with no civil union?) |
|
living in sin -
I just had to use that term.
But it is true that the VT folks are saying that half of the gay couples in Vermont are not in civil unions and are not interested in such a union.

4. Just because it's available doesn't mean it's for everyone. |
|
There are also a lot of unmarried hetero couples.

6. Civil unions are great. . . |
|
. . . but you're talking about a trend that will take gays a long time to adjust to, as well. Lots of people aren't accustomed to getting gov't recognition. Others are boycotting until they can get out and out married. Still others are waiting until CUs offer benefits outside of state treatment.
Incidentally, the "divorce rate" for CU couples, and registered partnerships in NY and CA are far, far lower than heterosexual ones over an equivalent period of time -- running at about 18% right now. :)

And her partner watched my three kids. The two wanted to adopted badly and were so disgruntled by the process it ruined their relationship. Eventually they tried having a child but a miscarriage pushed the couple to despair and eventual seperation.
Great to see that adoption comes true for others.

It seems that in some cases gay couples are adopting, but for some reason they are only adopting children who are older or children with some disabilities. Those could be mild learning disabilities, or they could be severe problems. Anyhow, that's fine by me if the couple has a real interest in adopting those children, but I think gay couples should be able to adopt healthy newborns, if that's what they want, just as easily as married couples can.
I would prefer to see anyone who is interested in adoption be more willing to adopt a child with special needs, particularly since the "special need" quite often just means that the child happens to be older than six months of age. At the same time, I really oppose holding the "blue ribbon babies" for the "blue ribbon couples" and only letting gay couples (or singles) adopt the mixed race children or the ones who are not newborns or the ones with some disability. And that does happen!

5. I think you're under the misconception |

that they care more about children then their own perverted homophobe agenda.
