A Day in the Life of Republicans
Scanning Thursday's Money Section, I found:

Andrew Fastow of ENRON conducted sham transactions to fraudently improve company books. Skimmed millions of dollars for himself. Pending sentencing. (Didn't bush have a similar history at Harken - rhetorical question.)

Dick Grasso of NYSE facing a challenge to his retirement compensation package of 187-million. Some call it excessive. "Sweeping reform" needed at the exchange. Interim Chair John Reed doesn't want an internal report about the package made public because it contains some "embarrassing details" and could support legal action. (So keep it sealed?)

Dennis Kozlowski of TYCO fame "may not have been entitled" to the lavish compensation he took. The Koz is on trial for larceny and enterprise corruption charges, etc, etc, etc.

In the same paper, State's struggling to keep children of low income families on health care plans.

1. All these examples show that Government intervention is good!!
Business cannot regulate itself. This also shows why trickle down economics will never work!!

2. NPR had a segment yesterday on Fastow
His wife was sentenced to 5 months and if he is sentenced, they requested that they could serve time separately as they have two young sons at home and they need one parent there.

Why do they think they should be treated differently than any other prisoner? These people have no clue. If they were poor or African-American, they would have no choice in the matter.

3. Not quite the same
I don't want to defend any of the them but...
Both Fastows as engaged in something called "plea bargain", if
they can get more out of it (such as serving time separately)
it's just a part of the deal.

4. It's just the arrogance of these people
whose greed adversely affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of investors.

That was my point.
