Help me come up with a good reply to this email...
MAYBE SOME OF THOSE ALL FIRED POLITICALLY CORRECT PEOPLE SHOULD TAKE A
LOOK AT THEIR SURROUNDINGS!

DID YOU KNOW?
As you walk up the steps to the Capitol Building which houses the
Supreme
Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law
givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward
with a
full frontal view - it is Moses and the Ten Commandments!

As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have
the
Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door. As you
sit
inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the
Supreme
Court
judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings
and
Monuments in Washington, D.C.

James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our
Constitution" made the following statement "We have staked the whole of
all
our
political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for
self-government,
upon the
capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control
ourselves, to
sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."

Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said,
"It
cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation
was
founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on
the
Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher,
whose
salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the
established orthodox churches in the colonies.

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority
and instead of interpreting the law would begin making lawman
oligarchy....the rule of few over many.

The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said, "Americans should
select and prefer Christians as their rulers."

How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for
220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

Please forward this to everyone you can. Lets put it around the world
and
let the world see what this country was built on..

'IN GOD WE TRUST' IN ALL THINGS GIVE THANKS TO GOD

1. Um...and it's a so-called Christian in office right now and his cronies
who are promoting, working for and getting exactly what this writer decries...the rule of a few over many!
Duh...man, people are stupid.

2. Just give them this link...
It's full of quotes from the founding fathers, and their views on state-sponsored religion.
It should shut them up.

10. they break their own commandments when they lie like this
though I doubt they care. They HATE DEMOCRACY, and want to turn America into a Christian Taliban (though I should note it's their distorted version of Christianity)

4. At least two Commandmants have been broken
Do Not Bear False Witness.
The lies about WMD is all the proof needed for that one.

Thall Shall Not Murder.
The ensuing deaths as a direct result of Bearing False Witness against Iraq was an act of Murder.

And these are just the two most obvious.

5. Supreme Court Justice, John Jay
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 11:09 AM by silverlib
On edit - didn't see the Snopes link before I wrote this - Snopes rules!!!

"The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said, "Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers."

I suppose he thought that, like our founding fathers, Christians realized and wound stand ready to protect the separation of Church and State. I imagine he wouldn't be too happy with the right ring coalition.

I think Thomas Jefferson also felt this way - that Christian leaders wound protect the people's right to be religious or not religious and therefore their would never be a rule of a few over many.

I guess I feel this way about all the quotes. The intent was not for the American people to have any religion crammed down their throats.

The Consitution is somewhat like the Bible. People can take things out of context and use this against other people. I hate to see either document used in this manner, although I think the Constition is much more difficult to misread.

7. Treaty of Tripoli
"The United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion".
Approved by the Senate.
Signed by the President (John Adams).
The law of the land.

Now, if he's going to brag about statues...
No mention of Hammarabi? His face is there, also, in the Supreme Court, right next to Moses. In fact, there are a bunch of statues, dedicated to 'famous lawgivers' in history, of which Moses is one. So, are we supposed to worship Al Mat, as Hammie did? Or do we just pick and chose are sculpture to provide us with the bias we want?
