Anyone seen preview for "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake? |
|
What do you think? From preview, it looks pretty intense. Also, I really want to know what the music was that was playing at the beginning of that preview. Does anyone know? I'd really like to find out.

1. I just went to the site and watched it. |
|
It does look intense, but it's not like they would show two minutes worth of the dullest scenes in the movie.
It has to be better than the first one, which seemed to me to consist primarily of screaming.

2. Yeah, I wasn't impressed |
|
the first one is a classic of low budget/big idea horror.
The remake looks like an MTV video. Plus I just can't ignore the missing presence of Gunnar Hansen.

but due to the fact that it's sorta based on a true story I have problems about seeing it.
I've never seen the orginial, or Part II, but I did see Part III in the theaters and Part IV (the one with Renee Zelwegger and Matthew Howeveryouspellhislastname) on video.
Those are fucked up movies.
They're not Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street type stuff all all.
I don't do gross-out well, and that film is gross.

10. You want to see gross? |
|
Check out House of 10,000 Corpses. Nothing redeeming about that film...not scary, not well-acted, not an interesting story...just pure gross. I felt like I had to take a shower after watching it.

16. TCM was NOT based on a true story! |
|
Just so you know, it's not based on anything, it's just a scary movie.

Unless you also consider "Psycho" to be based on a true story.
As for the remake, 2 words: Michael Bay. If there was some kind of a cinematic equilance of The Hague, Michael would be facing some serious charges.

20. There was a bit of truth in TCM |
|
A little bit only.
Seems north of me was this guy, a loner named Ed Gein.
He used to raid cemetaries, dig up women's corpses and make stuff out of them.
It wasn't until he killed a woman, decapitated her and then dressed her body out like a deer hunter dresses a deer, that he was caught.
He died in a mental institution.

Does not bode well for a good movie...even though the preview looked good.

4. The first is the scariest movie I've ever seen |
|
I don't know how they can top that one. It's low-budget ambiance just added to the chilling atmosphere.

|
Who was the narrator of the original TCM?
(They got him back as the narrator of the new one too.)

13. Mortal Coil - Song To The Siren |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-17-03 01:07 PM by Kellanved
Edit: the lyrics fit, but I'm not sure who performs it. Edit2: I think it's the Mortal Coil version http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000007SPT/qid=1061142972/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-0916125-8083107?v=glance&s=musicEdit3: I'm no longer sure who did it first; here is the cocteautwins version: http://www.cocteautwins.com/real/sirenlive.ram

I heard that album (This Mortal Coil...It'll End in Tears) years ago and I knew I had heard that music before somewhere but I couldn't place it.
