DVDs are coming out in droves!
Series title followed by season number(s)

South Park 4
Simpsons 4
A-Team 1 :puke:
Wonder Woman 1
Dukes of Hazzard 1
Sliders 1 + 2 ()
Quantum Leap 1
Knight Rider 1
Star Trek TOS in boxed season sets
All in the Family 3
Futurama 4

All (and many others) out by fall!

("Sliders", I noted, costs a bit more than many of the other hour-long series, so I'm guessing the DVD disc transfer will be worth the dough... I do love it when they do a high quality transfer...)

4. Wow. They're really strip-mining the old pop-culture nostalgia, eh?
The A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, Wonder Woman, and Knight Rider coming out on DVD? Must be close to scraping the bottom of the barrel. Don't get me wrong, I loved those shows back in the late '70's and early '80's, but...I was between 2 and 6 years old, too. Whatever will the entertainment industry do when they saturate the market and actually have to start producing new stuff of decent quality instead of reality television?

5. Quite
Knight Rider is now kitschy stuff I'd watch but not really buy (and season 4 was hoorendous)...

A-team was mindless explosions and gunfire that hurt nobody, therefore - to a kid - violence won't hurt and is okay.

Wonder Woman is campy fun.

Dukes of Hazzard is a live action cartoon... being 7 at the time, everybody else made "Enos is a ______" jokes (guess, Enos and the lady from Nantucket have a lot in common...) and I didn't understand it at the time...

I'm happy for the fans of the aforementioned shows. I love Futurama and Sliders - they and Simpsons are the only ones that require brainpower to digest. Well, QL did as well and I :loveya: that show too, but it was more straightforward about it all...

7. Yeah...
the Simpsons, Sliders and Quantum Leap are really the only ones on the list I like...(never got much into Futurama, and I felt kind of let down after Rhys-Davies left Sliders).

14. I forgot about those! But I do know something nasty about that set...
Good addition!

But Eps 4-6 are NOT the original releases.

They are NOT the Special Editions released in 1998 on LaserDisc/VHS.

These are Special Special Editions. With more hacked footage and different fx in some places.

Sigh.

I was watching my widescreen VHS original version release with the Lucas interviews. It's fun to listen to him ramble on.

I wish he'd release both versions. I preferred the original S/W and Return, though the extra bits added in Empire were worthwhile...

11. I'm still hoping that
Jessica Simpson plays Daisy Duke in the DoH movie. And of course am still pissed that the General Lee is (rumored to be) deflagged.

15. Why make it at all?
So many movies based off of TV shows have hacked up the original shows that I'm no longer surprised when they be 'politically correct', et cetera. They make something crap and it diminishes the camp flavor of the original.

And, apart from "The Brady Bunch Movie" (1995), I can't think of a single movie based from a tv show that actually WORKED, even in the slightest.

12. Most of that list sounds good!!!
I look forward to Quantum Leap and Star Trek TOS in box set form. I just could not justify spending $20 per disc for only two episodes. I hope there's some commentary from the living crew members.

I don't think I will be ordering Dukes of Hazzard or A Team however.

Looking forward to all the Dr Who being released...thank you BBC!!!

16. I wish Warner Bros would play catch up...
UK folks now have many other titles available, including Pyramids of Mars, The Green Death, and The Leisure Hive. :9

I'm also tempted to buy a region 2 disc, just to see how the quality compares to Warner Bros' releases her in America... Being PAL, they'd make better framegrabs as wallpaper anyway. :D

17. Marx Brothers Collection
Edited on Sat May-01-04 09:07 AM by caledoni
Granted it's only their last seven films. The first five are owned by someone else, with a rumour that a boxed set might be in the works for the 75th anniversay of "The Coconuts".

And on the subject old black & whites, there's a collection of Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan flicks fast on the horizon. (the best Tarzan!)

And an extra copy for my Dad. I'm a Happy Feller.

I love these TV DVD collections. I also have Starsky & Hutch Season One, Alias Season One, and Firefly. There's ALWAYS something good on TV at my house.
