...Sad fact: I ain't that nice of a guy. Oh, I'm NICE and all, but not THAT nice. Other fact is, when I signed on to DU, some months ago, I was in a very VERY weird state of mind and didn't know what I'd find here. Maybe anger and vitriol? Maybe bullshit? But I took a chance because I wanted and needed to communicate with people more than I'd been doing. This seemed like a good possible place to do it. Final fact: DU has helped me a lot. I really enjoy my daily "sessions," which probably help me at least as much as my current shrink does. And it's free! Yeah, I know: I gotta contribute the do-re-mi, and will do so soon. $2500 worth of pending gum surgery notwithstanding...

Can't wait to read someone who says, "Westegg? That jackass. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on." That person will be correct as well, although leave my horse out of it. She's a fine mount, and dumb as a woodchuck. As my shrink often tells me, he doesn't believe that I'm being truly honest in our sessions. He's right. The same may hold true here. It's hard for me to touch my true feelings. I keep them abreast of me, as often as possible. I'm an old-skool, repressed WASP, and we are very good at building walls around ourselves without even noticing we're doing so. Maybe I can change.
