They're going to screw it up. They just can't help themselves. It's going to turn into a cutesy saccharine good vs. evil flick (what a change). Well, at least they have "Shrek"'s director. So it won't be a total loss.

necessary to pull it off (not a big Shrek fan).
Personally I adore the 1970's animated version and I think it's good enough to stand on its own without being remade. Still, I like to see different versions of literary works brought to film - it's just that in this age of big budget extravaganzas, there's usually only one version made, and it usually is made for the lowest common denominator.
We'll see, I guess, but why Disney?

It's part of their master plan to Disnefy every piece of popular literature. Theme Lunchboxes don't make themselves, you know!
